Does anyone else think there are TOO MANY red carpet shows on TV these days? They used to be small and fun for the events like the Oscars and Emmy's, but now last night they had them for the SAG awards?????

What's worse is that the reporters (in this case Ryan Seacrest, last time it was Isaac Mizrahi) ask these celebrities the most embarassing rude questions about plastic surgery, fake tanning, etc.....

Well......consider the source. You are in the land of fake, the land of tackiness, the land of me me me, the land of shallowness, etc.

What more do you expect? I think we're lucky these people can answer the question of "who are you wearing?".(Heck, they can't even pick out their own clothes, gotta have a "stylist" dress them!) Do you really expect intellectual conversation on the red carpet from these people?

I actually like it when someone does something to shake these people out of their stupor! I also love seeing them when they don't think the camera is on them (somewhat true facial expressions).

I guess when I get tired of watching train wrecks, I'll change the channel!

I don't watch the red carpet shows, but I do believe there are just way too many award shows. Let see there are the Oscars, SAG, Emmys, Golden globes. Am I forgetting any? Seriously the amount of money used to put on these shows, let alone how much is wasted on gowns and diamonds, could be put to better use. It's gotten to the point that these award shows are nothing more than a stars praising stars.

When was it any different :confused3

I think all these awards shows are a joke. Just one more oppurtunity for the Hollywood elite to pat themselves on the back. Its a joke. They need to have awards shows for "ordinary people". I would most definitely be nominated for the "Works with complete idiots and still manages to make it to work everyday" award. ::yes::

i didnt watch the sags or most the emmys but i do watcht he oscars but the preshows are crazy and stupid now and i cant stand ryan seacrest

Awwwwwww.....

Some people say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but I disagree. Red carpets do it for me!!

See, I LOVE the red carpet shows!! I love the fashions (even though I do question what some of these folks are thinking) and I think it's fun to see some of the stars a little off their game when forced to speak without a script. Some of them are really entertaining, like George Clooney - he's so sarcastic and quick-witted that he puts the interviewer on the hot seat everytime!! He's great at turning stuff around! Ray Romano and Brad Garrett (actually, the whole cast of Raymond) are always good too, very quick and "on".

In fact, I had more fun watching Ryan last night that I do when the likes of Isaac and Kathy Griffin and Joan and Melissa are on. I like Joan when she's being honest but not obnoxious - true, those moments are few and far between.

Of course, my dream beyond dreams career would be to work red carpet events, so I guess you either love it or hate it. I love it!! party:

Why were you watching it?

I'm not trying to be horrible and I'm seriously not flaming you but these threads always make me laugh. Change the channel. I don't like reality shows so I don't watch them. Why spend your time on something that you are sick of? That's like me watching The Bachelor and then posting "Who else is sick of reality TV?" E! has always been like that, rude questions etc.

Don't like it, don't watch. In this era of digital cable, there has got to be a 100+ other channels to change to.

It's gotten to the point that these award shows are nothing more than a stars praising stars.

That's always been the point.

I hate to say it but I agree. If the networks didn't get ratings for these shows then they wouldn't show them. Simply change the channel and ignore the shows.

Personally, I don't mind them but I don't actively watch them either. I don't dislike stars as so many people seem to but then I don't really care to watch a lot of people make speeches either.

There are way to many IMO! I don't watch them but they are always on the channel where I normally watch what's on and I am tired of having my regular shows displaced for more awards. Keep it to the Oscars, Emmy's, and Grammy's for TV.

I actually liked Ryan Seacrest last night, which surprised me! He totally held his own, and was pretty funny.

My favorite was when they let Kathy Griffin interview the celebrities. They wouldn't know what to say to some of her questions, and really showed how some celebrities have no sense of humor or personality!!!

I usually watch the red carpet and turn it off for the actual awards. :teeth:

Award shows bore me but I love the follow-up show on E! when they talk about what everyone was wearing.
Did anyone watch "The best of the Worst Red Carpet Moments" on E! last night? It was hosted by Kathy Griffin (love her), it was funny.

I love the red carpet shows, even more than the awards shows themselves. I'll be watching the RC for the Grammys and then for the Oscars, no question.

That's always been the point.

I watched it for 5 minutes because i've never seen Ryan Seacrest do a red carpet show - thinking he'd do it better than the others have in the past. He asked a celebrity where they got their "spray tan" done and picked a hair out of Angela Bassett's dress. That about did it for me - and yes, I changed the channel.
