Enough time for Legoland?

Our plane lands at LAX at 11:00 a.m., if we don't go out to the DL area first to drop our luggage, would we have enough time to tour Legoland?

The park is open until 8:00 the day we're looking at going. It will also be a Thursday in the middle of August if that makes a difference.

I figure we could get down there between 1:00 and 2:00 hopefully.

I would think it depends on which week in August you are going. Most of the schools in the area will be going back the third week in August.

We did legoland in about 6hrs but we went during non peak time. We did it in the fall on a Saturday. My kids are not into the roller coasters so we did not do any of those.


Traffic from LAX to that area is always unpredictable. So be prepaired for it to take much longer or much shorter to get down there

It would only be the second week (the 14th).

I've heard that the traffic is hit or miss (usually miss) on that route.

You should fly into John Wayne Airport if you can. Its much closer to Legoland and also closer to Disneyland.

Some rides at Legoland have extremely slow moving lines. 6 hours is pressing it to try and do everything I think.

The rides with the longest waits/slowest lines (imho) are:

Sky Cruiser (believe all the signs you see that say 45minute wait from here, 1 hour wait from here etc. I would get in line for this right before the park closes. That will add 30min-1hr to your day)
Pharohs revenge (new ride)
Technic Coaster
Skipper School
Treasure Falls

You may want to skip some of them if it doesnt look like you can make everything else.

IDK if you have kids with you but if they start builing lego cars or robots you may never see the rest of the park. I usually go there toward the end of the day that way we dont end up spending the whole day building legos. if you only have 6 hours in 1 day I would just avoid these areas as they burn time like nothing else (They are in the imagination zone by the pizza place).

You certainly couldn't see and do everything there, but if you plan ahead and pick and choose carefully, I think it would still be a fun visit and definitely better than not going there at all. They have things for little kids that the bigger ones dont really like, and vice-versa, so if you eliminate the stuff that you dont "need" to do, you hopefully will have plenty of time to enjoy the park.

If you fly into San Diego, you are about 1/2 hour from Legoland.

If you fly into John Wayne, you are about 1 hour from Legoland.

If you fly into LAX, you are about 1 1/2 hours from Legoland.

Hope you get your luggage quickly.

Legoland is not a cheap park. We have done it in about 8 hours, but we start early in the day before the lines build. Our kids really like to chill out in the water areas and we enjoy not rushing.

You arrive LAX at 11am... probably close to 1.5 to 2 hours to get luggage and car rental and figure out how to get out of the airport and onto the freeway.

1pm.. start driving south to Legoland... 1 1/2 hours is a bare minimum.. plan on at least 2. Gets you inside the park by 3pm....

Probably enough time to see most of the park by closing.. but you won't be able to do all the rides/attractions, but you can get a good overview and have some fun!!!
