This week we returned from POFQ. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Mouskeeping left us two very cool towel animals. We were building number #1 second floor, 1216 I believe? It was a corner room right off the elevator. We faced the parking lot, but never heard a peep out of anyone or anything outside. :thumbsup2
The pool area was fun, bar is excellent and the food court had a decent selection. The staff, although polite wasn't very speedy with orders. The grounds were well kept and clean. The gift shop had fabulous items and registration was a breeze with a very helpful and friendly CM.
My only distressing moments were when were outside walking in the main court area. The darn black birds were doing fly-bys on people. My friends and I watched one women get swooped upon twice just walking across the main court area. Thought it was a single situation until I had my own 'Jack Sparrow' whisper in my ear. I almost pulled a neck bone flinching so fast and screaming as this bird came fluttering in my ear. :faint: :faint: :faint: For the rest of the trip I walked under the awnings of the buildings.
Overall, it was a great stay at POFQ. I unfortunately never used the ferry to DTD. Maybe next time, it looked like great fun.

Glad you enjoyed it! We will be checking in there (yes, I can't believe it) tomorrow!! :thumbsup2

Ah those pesky dive bombing black birds. We had the same problem in June 2004. One bird in particular targeted DD's significant other. I thought my DH had bribed the bird but it must have just been a random act of aggression. ;)

How do you compare POFQ to POP? We are booked for POFQ currently, but are trying to get into POP (long story). Just wondering, since you have been to both, how you think they compare?

Andy

Thanks for the great review! DBFand I will be there in September and had been originally booked at ASMo, but upgraded to POFQ. We cannot wait!!

If I may interject.....I LOVE the POP! I stayed there in April. I thought it was more kids for kids. POFQ more laid back, quiet and serene, if my girls ran screaming through the "street" I would shush them whereas at the POP, no one would even notice!

POFQ pros: had the privacy curtain, a little bigger room, free frig, the ferry to DTD, and a water slide!

PORQ cons: more laid back, not as bright and cheery (for kids), bus took FOREVER, had multi stops after, food court not as big.

POP pros: closer to parks, no bus sharing, VERY bright and kid themed, big food court, lots of choices, Goofy pop-jet, less money than POFQ!!
POP cons: bus stop was usually the last one, a little bit more of a walk, tiring after a day at the park, smaller room, no privacy curtain, $10 for a frig, more noisy (but not distrubingly so) than POFQ!

I don't think you will be sorry if you get into the POP! We are going back!

We are going to switch to POFQ from ASMovies and my main concern is the kiddy pool for my 2-1/2 yr old. We stayed at Pop and LOVED the kiddy pool... zero entry, spongy soft ground, little water jets.. then we went to AKL and HATED the kids pool there. We couldn't even find the playground!! Anyhow, I can't find a single pic of the kiddy pool or playground at POFQ, and was wondering if you used them, or liked them.

Thank you very much for the input. We stayed at POR last year, and wanted to try POP this year. POP was booked for our dates when we tried a few days ago, but we managed to get a couple rooms today. I felt the same way as you about POR. It was nice, but not very Disney-ish. I was looking forward to the atmosphere at POP, so I am very happy we got it booked today. Not to mention, it is about $500 less, which is always good!

Thanks,
Andy

The playground is right by the pool, right by the food court, check-in. I did notice the kiddie pool but since it was a child-free weekend didn't really get the full picture. It did have water jets but was not as "kiddie" as the POP!

We were there a few weeks ago and had a great time watching the dive-bombing birds attack unsuspecting guests! They seemed to zero in on redheads.
The kiddy pool was not anything special, just a plain round shallow pool. I think it did have a spraying jet but not out of the ground that kids could run through. The play equipment was too tall for our little 2.5 year old DGD; she was very disappointed that we wouldn't let her play on it.
Overall we loved our stay at POFQ.

Hi Kahana, Welcome back. All in all it sounds like you had a great time... Doesnt it stink to be back home though? :(

Please keep telling me good things about POFQ as we are booked there. We have only stayed in a 1 br villa at OKW and are very concerned about a just a hotel room place, but we can't afford the villa.
