Enhanced id recognized at MCO?

I am going to renew my license today at NY DMV and need to decide on the Real ID vs Enhanced. Even though I have no current plans to travel internationally, for $30 extra it's nice to have that option over the next 8 years. I know the Enhanced ID allows me to fly domestically after May 7th, but wondering if I'm likely to have an issue flying back from MCO this May because FL TSA may not be knowledgeable about the Enhanced ID?

Enhanced ID is a REAL ID. I'm sure TSA in FL is familiar with it. It's only available in certain states, but it acts just like a driver's license from any other state (with REAL ID).

As for traveling internationally, the Enhanced ID won't work for flying international. You'll still need a passport for that. But it can be used to cross the border by car (or boat) -- since you are in NY that most likely would be driving into Canada.

What lanejudy said, the enhanced ID is a Real ID, and MCO TSA will have no issue recognizing it.

Bumping this thread because enforcement starts this Wednesday May 7th and all indicators point to it being a circus at TSA.

But: I will also add that just because Enhanced IDs are legitimate documents, that is no guarantee individual agents will be familiar with it. I have an Enhanced ID and even flying out of NYC airports there have been reports of people being warned that their IDs won't suffice. Lots and lots of anecdotal posts on Reddit from people in other states backing this up as well. TSA agents' training on this seems to be inordinately focused on looking for the star on the card as an indicator of compliance, which isn't the case for many Enhanced IDs (ours in NY just has the flag on it) or for Trusted Traveler cards like Global Entry or NEXUS which are 100% compliant.

We don't fly down until 5/25 but I am still bringing my passport just in case and getting to the airport much earlier than I usually do, despite having an Enhanced ID and a Global Entry card. I hate the idea of flying domestically with my passport but I don't trust these agents.

Wow. I have an Enhanced NY state driver license. I thought there'd be zero problems, since it is a Real ID. But maybe I should bring my passport too. How ridiculous to travel domestically. But these are ridiculous times.

ETA: I'm traveling back to NY after the May 7th deadline and I'll post here if my Enhanced driver license was accepted.

It seems to be hit or miss with anything that doesn't have the star on it from the reports I've seen. Even IDs that should be accepted. Training seems to be the issue, per usual with TSA. I'm bringing my passport as backup because I don't want problems.
