I'm setting up our Engagment shoot with the Roots for October.

I've not been to WDW since I was very little, so would love some expert opinions!

Nathan has suggested the Boardwalk, and I've seen some great shoots there! But as we got engaged at a Disney Castle part of me really wants the castle included, so I don't know if perhaps Poly/GF may be a good option?

I'd love to hear where you all had your shoots, and especially if anyone has done a GF/Poly one with the Roots.

Thanks, Meg! Saves my poor fingers the typing... :lmao:

Absolutely nodda prob! Although now I want Root Pictures from the Poly! Hmmm... I'll stick that in with my to dos for Vow Renewal! :rotfl:

Oooh, thanks everyone!! :)

Off to look now!

I jsut don't want to second guess the Root's decision as they are the amazing photographers in this equasion!!

I mess up photos of my cat!

Meg your photos are soooo cute!! :) Some of them really made me smile as you two look so happy! I do like the diversity and colour of the boardwalk.

But Carrie, I think your Poly one with the castle in the background might have sold me on it as a location! I'm also really glad that you said you were uncomfortable beforehand about the photos, as I have this awful image in my head I'll ruin them all with fake 'smiles'!

Yeah, one of the cool things about the Roots is that you have so much fun with them that you forget to be self-conscious.

I have found that in the first, oh, 15 or 20 minutes of any photo shoot we do with them, I feel kinda awkward and don't end up looking that great in most of the photos. But after that sort of break-in period, we get tons of great shots.

If you think this might happen to you, I would say to go to some more neutral photo locations first and save the ones you really want (like the castle from Sunset Point) for the middle or end of the photo shoot.

Thank you :cutie: That's a really great point!

We just did ours with the Roots last week. We were supposed to do the Poly and GF but it had started raining shortly before and we weren't sure if the weather was going to hold out. Nathan suggested we start with our first choice location just in case we got rained out so we picked the GF. We had just gotten engaged a few days before and we were staying at the GF for our trip so it was more special to us. Later on, Nathan gave us the option to get a few pics at the Poly or stay at the GF, we decided to stay put since we would be able to get more pics that way. We did a bunch of areas around the resort, we did get a few with the Castle (well the limited Castle view at the GF that is). Can't wait to see my pics in a few weeks. I loved working with the Roots, they are so nice and really make you feel comfortable. I admit, it is a little odd at first, but by the end even DF had loosened up a bit. Don't worry, they completely understand and will give you suggestions on stuff to do but in really nice way. Most of the pics aren't posed per se so less chance of fake smiles!

I think the BW area is great, but definitely pick something that's special to you. I also wanted to have the Castle in the background so that's why I picked the locations I did. Don't worry, the Roots will find tons of great photo ops in any location you pick! I was a little nervous about picking the GF since I know they probably shoot a ton of weddings and stuff there and maybe they would feel like "been there / done that" but they didn't give me that impression at all and even said they hadn't been there in a while and were seeing things in a new way. We really had a great time with them!

If you want the castle in them, I recommend the Poly. Carrie's pics out on Sunset Pointe are great! They took one of us at the GF with the castle in the background, but it didn't come out very well.

We didn't do an e shoot and I wanted wedding pics all over the BW which is my all time fav place. It is just personal preference. Whichever photog you have, as long as they are talented (and the Roots are!) you will get great pics! I will say that even when we had pics taken with my basic point and shoot of the Poly loby those do come out beautifully. Those "planters" or whatever they are are really reaaly nice and tropical and Carrie got some great second level shots with them!
