engagement ring while in park

back story - i've been dating my girlfriend for almost three years now and i was planning on proposing later in the spring once all of the snow has finally melted here in wisconsin at one of our favorite spots where we both went to school, but my mom happened to win a sweepstakes (yes, someone actually wins those) for a 3 day/2 night vacation over the ESPN weekend (feb 29 - mar 2). so my mom, sister, girlfriend and i are flying down for a short vacation.

the four of us have been to disney together twice before (i've been a total now of 8 times), and have always watched wishes from the rose garden. so on whichever of the two nights we'll be at MK I am planning on proposing after wishes. I'm hoping to wait around for a few minutes after the show is done so it clears out a little bit before proposing (after my mom and unknowing sister walk away far enough to give us the privacy, but still close enough to maybe catch a picture or two).

anyways, my question is what are my options for holding onto the ring during the day. we're staying off property unfortunately (not up to us), so hoping a bus back during the middle of the day isn't really a possibilty i'm thinking, and i know i'll be freaked out all day carrying a ring worth $$$. if i stop by guest services in the morning do they have a safe or anything that I could keep something like this in? I could rent a locker, but once again, i'd be freaking out about it and checking on it every other hour... anyways, does anyone have any other options that they know of?

I would see what geust services can do for you,call before you go and see if anything is possible. If not,I would keep it on you..do you have a pair of cargo pants that have pockets with zippers.

Could your mom hold onto the ring for you?

My DH kept my engagement ring in his wallet prior to giving it to me. When we were in the parks, he actually had me put his wallet in the small backpack I carry with me in WDW. I had no idea!

I'd be surprised if Disney would hold something like that - I'd guess they wouldn't want the liability... I'd say cargo pants/shorts with a zipper pocket would be the most secure way to go. Another option would be to put the ring in a pouch/small zippered baggie (you can get these from a jewerly store) and use a safety pin to attach it to the inside of a pocket. that way all day you can feel that it's there anytime you want, without anyone else noticing anything. I work part time in a jewelry store and this is also what we suggest for people having to go thru airport security. In that case we tell them to pin it inside a jacket pocket so they can take the jacket off for the metal detector, but they know it won't fall out and they can feel it's there as soon as they pick up the jacket. Makes for a lot less worrying and frantic bag searches!

What about buying a waterproof case you put around your neck? You can use it for your tickets and stuff too, so she won't be suspicious.
I don't know how big your ring is but you can always tape it really good inside the case so you won't accidentally drop it while you're taking out the ticket or $.

Or there's always the lockers in the park.
You can put the ring in your backpack and just put everything in the locker until closer to the time you're planning to propose

lol, my DF had *my* ring in his cargo pocket for 4 days *every day* before he gave it to me. When I realized that, I was just petrified thinking about us flying around on Rock N Roller Coaster with thousands of dollars in a tiny box. It makes me sick thinking about it!!! Although, it all worked out really, really well!

JMO, I wouldn't do this. If someone broke into the car, that would be a disaster. I'm thinking of a few years ago when a woman's jewelry was all stolen from a car in the parking lot of one of the water parks.

My husband put it in his cargo pants pocket and zipped it closed. It was in a bag that was also closed.
