I'm planning on popping the question at the MK during Wishes on an upcoming trip. I'm trying to choose between taking the knee at either the Rose Garden or the Wishing Well. How crowded do these areas get during Wishes? How's the view for the show? Any help would be appreciated. My fallback is waiting until after the show during EMH when the park empties a bit. Thanks!

I don't think you can get near the Wishing Well during Wishes--isn't it cleared? It would be a terrible view of Wishes anyway.

The wishing well definitely is roped off during Wishes, until the area is clear (sometimes up to 15 minutes after). People start filling the Rose Garden for spots fairly early, and I'm not sure how crowded the boat landing down there gets, but I'd assume it's a popular spot since it has places to sit.

I have three suggestions because with all the crowds and noise, it might actually be hard for your partner to hear your question!:

1. Book a private boat (pontoon) trip out of the CR that will take you around Bay Lake and the captain will swing you in front of MK. You can have champagne and food or dessert on board.

2. Book a Wishes Dessert Party and perhaps add to your reservation that you plan to make it a VERY special event. Perhaps they can help with the engagement. (i.e. like they do the glass cinderella slipper at CRT)

3. Do it at any of the three MK resorts that pipe in the music.

or perhaps you can talk to a CM before Wishes and whisper your intentions. Perhaps there is a neat spot that they can place you at and help with your engagement?

Disney floral has packages to help with proposals if you're wanting to add anything, also the Disney wedding website has contact info to help with proposals, such as having a photographer take pictures, etc. I have seen where a few girls have been proposed to during wishes at the Magic Kingdom, and a couple of them have said it was difficult to hear.

Maybe on the beach at the Poly after eating dinner there? :lovestruc

I saw a proposal in December that I thought was so sweet.

I was standing right near the partners statue. The man had obviously enlisted Disney's help, as a photopass photographer was set up, and had cleared a space, under the guise of shooting the fireworks for promotional reasons.

After The Magic, The Memories, and you, the man climbed up on the concrete bench surrounding statue, pulled out the glass slipper and SHOUTED "Ladies and Gentleman, I am standing up here tonight because I want everyone at the Magic Kingdom to know how much I love my girlfriend, and what an amazing mother I think she would be for my three sons. _______ (forget the name), will you be the mother of my children and my best friend and wife?"

I was crying like a baby. Heck, I'm crying right now just remembering it.

My son got engaged at CRT. There is an engagement package deal where you get dinner, photos, special dessert and an engraved glass slipper that the ring is put inside of. Here is a pic of the engagement (The people around them aren't even looking!)

Here is a pic of the dessert with a white chocolate slipper:

Here is a photo of the glass slipper with the ring in it on rose petals. On the other side they engraved their names and the date.

I think it is a little expensive. I love the idea above about the wishes dessert party!

We did this for our engagement and it was a great experience! Highly recommended. :thumbsup2

DH proposed to me during Wishes from the Rose Garden right after Tinker Bell flew over. He also picked me a rose (which I know you aren't supposed to do lol) it was def amazing! The great part was no one seemed to notice cause it wasn't overly crowded. He also took me to dinner at Tony's before hand.

My finace proposed to me on our trip in September! He knew I get embarrassed easily so he opted not to do a public proposal. We were staying at POR, and he arranged for Disney Floral to set up rose petals in a heart on our bed. When we came back from the parks that day, it was all set up and he popped the question  I for one was glad he did it that way - I burst into tears and would have been overwhelmed if strangers were watching and congratulating us. I will say that he requested Disney Floral set up the arrangement after 5pm, because we wanted to do it after we came back from MNSSHP. They did not honor his request and set it up sometime between 9am-2pm when we were at AK, so he was forced to do it earlier than he wanted to but it all worked out. He just wished Disney Floral would have told him they don't honor time requests.

Congratulations and good luck to you!!! :thumbsup2

My DH proposed to me right into front of the walkway to Fantasyland on the castle. He ended up proposing at midnight after the park announced closing for the evening & it truly was magical. Hardly anyone was around :lovestruc

Later on, he told me that he was actually planning to propose during Wishes but it was so crowded and we ended up standing near this atrocious family with two animals.....oops I mean kids :rolleyes1 who were running around yelling, blasting their bubble guns in our faces and whacking us and everyone around them with their pirate's sword and princess wand. Total moodkiller. No big deal though because getting proposed to at the castle at night with no one else around was so romantic & just perfect!!:cloud9:

My DH propsed in the rose garden on the fourth of July during EMHs. There was no one around us, and it was romantic. :lovestruc

I got proposed to in a private little area somewhere around Space Mountain. He tried to do it at dinner at Coral Reef, but the overly-attentive waiter kept coming by, then he tried to doing it after close in the World Showcase in Japan, but before he got the ring out a couple of girls jumped in his conversation and asked for pictures of them, then he tried to do it in Haunted Mansion (my favorite ride), but he said it was too loud. Finally, the moment just hit us after doing that awful Buzz Lightyear ride and before we went and did Space Mountain.

Funny thing is, we got treated like VIPs by everybody at Disney when they found out we didn't get engaged in front of the castle. :rotfl:

My Fiance proposed in the rose garden. It wasn't during wishes because we got there late and we had NO hope of even getting close to the rose garden. After wishes however he tried to get me to go up the walkway to go through the castle but I was ticked off with the crowds so that didn't work. But it was nearly 1am when we were getting ready to leave the park and we stopped in the rose garden to "take a picture" and he proposed right there. No one was around and it was PERFECT!

Thanks for the help. I proposed last night! We couldn't make it to the wishing well last night due to a crane/construction. (Ironic because that's my job.) I popped the question next to crystal palace right after Wishes. She was so surprised she couldn't even speak! My family got some great pictures. Neither of us has been able to stop smiling! Next step, Disney wedding!

Congrats to you and your fiancee! Keep us updated on your Disney Wedding planning.

I got engaged in Disney last Sept. It wasn't your typical disney proposal though. We are both huge sports fanatics so he decided to do it at ESPN club. He worked with the manager over a few weeks to make it all work out. He had a baseball engraved "will you marry me?" and dropped down on one knee in front of the entire restaurant.
Most people say "ew he proposed in a sports bar?" But it was prefect for us, we love disney, we love sports....so it worked for us!
