Energy Plus Promotion & Southwest Rapid Reward Accounts

I was an emailed a promotion for 12,500 points on my Southwest Rapid Reward account for switching my electric carrier to Energy Plus to be my supplier. Has anyone else done this to earn the points? Would like input on how the transaction went. 12,500 is a lot of points

I did not do this under Southwest but rather Delta Skymiles. I had no problem receiving my bonus or my monthly miles. When I changed my last name and had to call them, their customer service was great.

I think the promotion is open to everyone who electric or gas company particaptes. It listed under Southwest Rapid reward promotions on the web site.

I've been popping around on Southwest and can't find it. I'd be willing to try the service for points/

Play close attention to what the Electric rate will be. I signed up with them to get 10,000 wyndham reward points at I think 8 cents( It's been a while sorry) per kw. It was a variable rate and the only notification you get if the price goes up is in your electric bill. I didn't notice right away when it went up but it jumped to 15 cents per kw. If you don't use a lot of electricity this may be okay for you but for us I need the cheapest provider possible as we have electric heat and live in NE. I just changed from them to another provider because the new price is locked in at 7.39 cents per kw till the end of the year. I was paying over $130 a month extra for electric through them.

That all being said they did provide the points after the 2 months and I have used them so everything worked as it should, I just didn't pay close enough attention when the heat started coming on.

Yes definitely be aware of what you are paying. I am currently under contract with another company (fixed rate) and have an early termination fee if I switch before August. I noticed with this company they only tell you the rate of the first month and it is variable after that. Since they do not have an ETF I would only use them for the 2 month period and switch to some one else. I am hoping the deal is still around then as their regular deal is only for 5000 points.

my rate has not jumped with them so it may depend on the area. Since they do not require a contract you can leave at an point.

I agree with this. I ended up paying double what the provider was charging at the time and switched back but not before it costing me some serious money on my electric bill.

Same here, my rate went from 9cents to 17cents. I just switched to a flat 10cent rate with another provider, good for one year.
