Ending of YOMD?

Does anyone know what the 2008 "theme" promotion will be? When exactly does YOMD END? And what about the YOMD refillable mugs??

I have never been in January before and just wondering...

Wow... sour grapes? I honestly love YOMD. I think it takes the magic of Disney and turned it up a few notches. Plus, a lot of people must have loved it for them to extend it. But the good news for you is that I'm sure 2009 will be different and hopefully it will fulfill your dreams.

I love YOMD and I'm glad they extended it so I can experience it again in February. I love getting something but I hope I at least get to see someone win something. that's just as fun sometimes.

No sour grapes, I've won my share of stuff. Since this promotion began I've been 2 weeks in Oct 06, 1 week in Feb 07, 2 weeks in May07, and 10 days in August 07 and somewhere in those trips I've won 2 pin lanyards and 1 fp lanyard (which we gave to another couple because we were done for the day when we won). I just never thought the awarding of prizes would be so tiny. There are too many families that get nothing and have to continue to watch others get awards. We hear this all of the time during our trips, from friends and families and from coworkers and even complete strangers that we talk with in food courts or in lines. It's getting tough watching parents try to explain to their little ones why their family isn't special. I thought this promotion would be a little more than it is. And the profiling that is done for the other rewards is too noticeable to look the other way. Everyone is commenting about how they choose the families. If you are the perfect family of 4 your odds are good that someone will approach you. We have been to WDW more than 50 days since this promotion has begun and seen this scenarios so many times now it makes me sad that they are doing this. Most folks would never notice since they are lucky if they go one week a year. Yes, heading there again in 3 weeks for another 2 week trip and sure we'll see more selective awaring of prizes. (This is not the prizes for FP, pin lanyards and hats, those are random and once a day for each of the items). All of my wins have always been at MK (train, HM, JC)

Ok, well I have a whole bunch of sour grapes towards this "extending" of the theme. I really did like it, but for 1 year. Its not because I havnt won anything, it's just because i'd rather see a different theme. They are only extending it because they made a whole mickey load of money. Only because people went there to win stuff. I dont go to WDW to win stuff, I go to have the time of my life

When I go to Disney I like there to be something slightly different, even if it is just the theme. The diversity, however small, makes it interesting. Even thinking about seeing the characters in the same shinning outfits, is disappointing.

Exactly, I mean yes we are still going next year but I would like to see some different souviners.

I was hoping for a different theme next year, too. YOAMD is fun, though it's also nice to see different decorations/colors/designs each year. I hope they will at least change the design of the YOAMD refillable mugs for 2008.

Now we'll have to wonder what's in store for 2009!

I feel sorry for anyone who foolishly went to WDW JUST in the hopes of winning something. I go just for the sheer joy of it all. I'm one who chomps at the bit in the week or so before June/July gets posted on the WDW calendar.....lol....feel like I have to plan the itenerary ASAP!
I never really paid any attention the other yrs I went as to what promotion was going on. Mom emailed me about this one and I specifically searched out info on it. We won a lanyard & Ears thru the postcards and you would have thought we had won the darn "Disney-all-over-the-world" trip with the excitement.
Question: with the previous promotions Disney has run....what were the benefits? Was it just theming or was it perks as well?

As far as I know, the updated prize list hasn't been released, but hopefully there will be something new!

I like to see the themes change each year, just because we go each year and I like the different promotions. I also like to get a new planning dvd with the different promotions on it. I haven't minded the YOAMD, just like to see a different one each year.

I agree with this 100%. Being a single mom I have seen this for years.
