Curious as to what everyone does when you have an ADR and end up not being able to use it (i.e. can't make it to the resturant on time, get caught at anothe park, etc.). Do you call and cancel or just not bother? We try and call but know many that don't.

Just wondering!

We usually call as soon as we know we can't make it. However, on one occasion, I totally forgot until hours after the ADR.

I usually call. On our last trip we had 3 ADRs that we didn't make...1 we actually rescheduled for another time, 1 I cancelled, and 1 I didn't think about until about 2 hours after our scheduled time (so I didn't think there was any point in calling then).

I think most people try to call, but sometimes things just get in the way. We had friends who missed their ADR at Ohana because they went back to the room for a nap at 2pm and didn't wake up until 8pm!!! They were pretty upset about that one! Their ADR had been for 6pm.

Call, unless you completely forget (accidents happen). I had to reschedule Boma three times last trip. It was supposed to be our "welcome" meal, but our flight got delayed, then cancelled, then rescheduled. It was a nightmare!

Being from another continent we don't carry a phone, but we usually go to the nearest guest relations window and cancel, or call from the hotel room as soon as we know we won't make it to an ADR.

We rarely don't make an ADR. We had 23 ADRs for our last trip and didn't make 1 one of - we called and canceled.

We call and cancel. We just got back from 4 nights at BWV and had to cancel 2 out of the 4 ADRs we had due to one of us being under the weather.

I always call. Before I go to Disney I program my cell phone with important disney phone numbers, especially disney dining .

We always call and cancel. Just think how magical it is for the person that wants to eat where your reservation was and got in because you cancelled. :-)

I think it's just plain rude to not cancel. I think they could easily fill our vacancy so why hold a table when we know we can't get there? ADRs are in such high demand I'd hate for it to go to waste.

We also cancelled our Palo ressie on the Magic when we realized it was during the pirate night party. I was sure there's a couple somewhere on the ship that doesn't care to go to the party & fireworks. The people at Palo were sooo grateful, thanking me again and again, and it made me wonder how many "no shows" they get. :sad2:

ITA!

I thought I was going to cry when our plane was delayed and we couldn't make our Le Cellier lunch. We got something at Tutto later and I have to say it was excellent and it felt really good to sit outside after leaving a storm and stuck in a plane for hours.

However, I have blown them off after waiting on hold to get through to WDW reservations particularly years ago when cell phone minutes were expensive.

I distinctly remember sitting in a hotel room with a sick DD and realizing I had spent $5 to cancel a reservation I was on hold for so long.:confused3

I find a way to cancel, whether at Guest Relations or at the Concierge desk or by stopping in at another restaurant's check-in desk. (I learned that from this board - that any restaurant can call up a reservation at another place and cancel it.)

I don't tend to cancel by phoning Disney Dining, because in the past that turned out to be the most time-consuming way.

We usually know if we are going to make our adr a few hours before hand so we call and cancel.

I will admit that a few times we have slept right through the alarm and missed our early breakfast ressies and did not cancel...

We usually go to the concierge desk and have them cancel it. This is the fastest way I have found.

We've taken lots of trips and made lots of ADRs. DH and DD are really big on schedules so I think we've only had one ADR that we didn't attend as scheduled. When we changed our minds, we called and cancelled since we figured someone else could use the time slot.

We call and cancel whenever possible.

This Dec. we had an ADR for Sci Fi for a late lunch like 3:30, and we knew we weren't going to use it that morning as we ate breakfast, so we called Disney Dining at the Concierge desk and cancelled and they were very thankful that we did.

For our trip in 2007, I made an ADR at CRT 90 days out; and canceled it the day before . . . we were staying concierge at Wilderness Lodge and the CM who was working the desk asked me, are you SURE you want to cancel and I said yes; my two DSs don't want to go; it's just me; they'd rather go to Sci Fi diner; and she canceled it and made the ADR for Sci Fi Diner instead. So, hopefully I made someone's day. pixiedust:

But, any other restaurant, I probably would not have cancelled. I know from these boards how hard it is to get into CRT, so I did cancel it.

Edit - now I'm remembering more . . . they would have charged cc; so that's why I canceled it . . .
