I have been thinking lately to myself "Really ought to schedule a physical - haven't had one in a couple years........insurance pays for one annual should take them up on that........bad time of year, busy office during cold/flu season.........heart disease in family history, really should check my cholesterol.........yadda yadda yadda"

So, today is the day I will schedule my physical before the end of the calendar year. How about you?

:wave2:

Thanks for the reminder. I do try to have one a year and I can't remember when I am due for mine. I will call today and find out and get it scheduled.

I'll be waiting to hear that you actually made your appointment:D .

Thanks for the reminder! I was scheduled for a physical last summer and then mother got so ill and I just missed it. I need to reschedule NOW

ok, I'm good to go. I'm scheduled Monday Nov 17 immediately after my girlie-check up with my GYN. oh fun fun day:crazy:

My old doctor used to encourage me to have my annual check-up right around my birthday. He said its a date I'll never forget and since he brought me into the world its nice to see you every year!

He was a dear soul who is long gone now, but I still try to have my annual around my birthday each year!

Did you know that unless you have some specific health problem, most insurance companies will consider your GYN doctor as your primary care physician? Mine orders all of my routine blood work and tests, but will refer me to a specialist if anything comes back abnormal, and she feels it's out of her expertise to handle.

For instance, last year my glucose was elevated. She set up a diet and exercise plan with me, and ordered follow up tests. If I hadn't responded, I would have seen an internist or other specialist.

What a great thread! I NEVER miss a physical and I'm lucky that my Primary Care also does the gyn stuff too so I can get it all done at one appointment. In fact I can't wait for my next one, he'll be so happy that I finally have started losing the weight he's been warning me about the past few years. I can't stress how important it is for all of us to go once a year. Early detection is the key with so many things. So all my WISH friends don't put it off one more day - make your appointments and take good care of yourself! You are all important to ME!

Had my physical monday - my doc was thrilled with my BP around 104/60-something and my cholesterol just came back at 161. The nurse that called me with results actually congratulated me:teeth:
