End of use year, collection ressie possible?

I appear to be reading conflicting information. In one spot, I believe I read that you cannot book and travel on collection vacations during the last four months of your use year. Elsewhere, I saw that you could, although I am not sure if it was talking specifically about using points that had been converted to reservation status. If you have points about to expire, and no DVC availability, is it possible to use them for a ressie at one of the collection hotels?

If you are in the last four months of your UY, you cannot book anything for that time except DVC lodging (maybe DL lodging, but I'm not sure). Nothing outside of Disney for sure, though. And you can't bank any points either. So unless you get something DVC, you will lose those points.

It's the "Rule of Four".

I think the DisneyLAND hotels are exempt from the Rule of Four, but I'm not sure. I also think it is currently exempt from the $95 fee.

Basically, for all other non-DVC venues, you can travel during the last 4 months of your use year, but the reservation must be made prior to then...unless you already have points that are in Reservation Status.

Rule of Four
You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection, (excluding Disneyland© Resort Hotels in California and Tokyo Disney Resort®), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.

Basically the rule of four just restricts you from booking in the last 4 months and taking a trip in that same 4 month period. It does not restrict you from booking 10 or 11 months out and traveling in the last four months of your use year. E.g. Your use year is February. You book a reservation for Disneyland Paris 6 months before in June for a December vacation. The rule of four does not apply because you made the reservation more than 4 months before the end of your use year.

And as the quote states above the rule of four does not apply to the Disneyland resorts and Tokyo Disney.
