If you had to postpone a spring trip, would you go

June 27-July 4/5
OR
August 21-29
and WHY?!

Resort pricing is not a deciding factor. Mostly concerned about heavy crowds, hurricane season in August and lots of rain in June or August. We will have hoppers and water parks. I know it is HOT both those weeks

I personally would do June/July because the weather is likely to be a bit less stormy. I can handle summer heat and the daily rainshower, but frequent thunderstorms can really throw a wrench into your touring. But, there's no way to predict weather in advance.

Both dates will be crowded. Late August is the very beginning of the fall crush and Halloween season at WDW. The week leading up to the 4th of July is going to feature 4th of July crowds for at least the latter part of that week. Very crowded, but not horrific crowds, in my experience. Rides will feature long waits.

It's really a toss-up which week will be better. If you're there on July 3rd or 4th, you'll get to see the Independence Day fireworks show at MK, which is pretty cool.

Thanks! Might have to base it on airfare! However, I do like the idea of going sooner rather than later and seeing July 4th fireworks! Thanks for your thoughts.

Honestly, they're pretty much the same...weather, crowds, etc... Summer at WDW is an awesome time, we love it. If I had to pick one, it'd be June to July for the fireworks.

I would pick late august for the chance at lower crowds.the dates you posted will be the very start of back to school for alot of kids.I would bet crowds will be huge during the 4th of july.

Great points above. Have traveled recently during both times.

I tend to lean towards the Jun/July 4th dates, if given a choice between the two. We did 7/4 week last year and it was perhaps my favorite trip all year. Great vibe, fun fireworks. July, and even July 4th, isn't quite the "mega crowds" these boards can sometimes make it sound like. Crowded yes, but manageable.

If you are talking about this summer... watch out for Toy Story Land, which opens 6/30. That could add a wrinkle to your dates this summer (although I'd be excited at this prospect...among the first to see a new land).

June. Weather is much better. Aug brings the hurricane risk, and daily rain showers. Both will be crowded, especially with the opening on toy story land. Aug will be very busy with the halloween parties, and F and W will start in Aug. The last few years, June and July have been very slow.

We have always had a ton of luck with the week after labor day- super light crowds. With the new MNSSHP dates, I'm not sure if that will change. But of your dates, if there is no flexibility, they will be both be hot, so I would do June bc you don't have hurricane season to contend with. With the way the recent storm seasons have been, avoiding that would be major.

I would go at the end of August. Schools in a lot of places start up early-mid August, so crowds may be a little less (keyword less) that the week of July 4. Also, I think the large tour groups are usually gone by August.

Me personally, I would go with the end of August.

My thoughts are during the June / July time frame it is going to be a bit more crowded.

During the late August time, crowds will start to taper off, plus there is always the possibility of catching a MNSSHP during that time.

Just be aware that August is the worst month here weather wise. Feels like temperature is usually mid-90’s and higher with 100% humidity most of the day. The nights are low to mid 80’s with high humidity- far from pleasant. Just taking a five minute walk before sunrise can cause sweating. It’s a sauna you can’t escape. Many locals avoid the outdoors like the plague and wonder why in the world so many tourists choose to visit during the worst part of summer. :p

I will add that we have been twice in late august and last year in july.Last year we had torrential rains and thunder storms every day and the sa tour groups were out in full force. I will say the late august trips for us was better
in regards to weather and tour groups were not around that we could see.

While not the peak of hurricane season, it does start on June 1st so you are not avoiding anything by choosing June/July over August. I would choose June/July for the Toy Story Land opening and Fireworks if I were you.

You lost me at "July 4/5" Sooooo, I have to vote Aug. because MANY, MANY, MANY kids across the US are back in school already.

Rain potential is still daily for both options. Pack ponchos.
