End of January - LLMP necessary?

We will be in the parks just two days, Jan 31 and Feb 1. I didn’t think it would be dead, but I thought more on the average side with crowds, and I was shocked to see the LLMP prices when I checked the app today for Jan 31. The prices are similar to Christmas eve’s price! It’s one of the most expensive days of the entire month, even more than MLK weekend, race weekend, etc. $25 for AK on a Friday?!! $28 for Epcot, $32 HS and $35 MK! Does this indicate the parks will be slammed? I can’t imagine Christmas like crowds at the end of January? I know there’s a dance championship, but did I severely underestimate the crowd levels? In checking lots of crowd calendars before we planned this particular weekend, it appeared to be a very middle of the road, average weekend at Disney. Prices of the LLMP paint a different story…

Wow, that's interesting, and very surprising information. I hadn't looked, until you posted. We're there around the same time. I'm going to look more frequently to see if the prices adjust (hopefully down) as we get closer - but that pricing seems a bit out of line based on crowds we normally see that time of year. I'm not sure the prices change once they're set, even 3 weeks out.

Yeah, I personally have never seen the LLMP prices change, but that’s not to say they don’t. I really wish they would!! I was hoping we wouldn’t need LL and thinking lines wouldn’t be horrible, but now with seeing the cost of LLMP, which is typically based on how busy the parks will be, has me second guessing things!

LLMP prices are set upon publication. They do not fluctuate up or down once announced.

We visited the end of Jan/beginning Feb a couple of years ago and it was a busier time than I anticipated. I feel those are kinda mid-crowds. Not Christmas/Thanksgiving busy but not quiet either.

If we were visiting that week and had it in the budget, we would purchase LLMP for our MK and DHS days.

Those crowd levels are what I was expecting, middle of the road. We went back in 2020 (before Covid) at the same time and it wasn't too bad. Not dead, but also not unbearable. I didn't think that January 31 would be the most expensive LLMP date in all of January though! I was for sure MLK weekend would have higher prices. There hasn't even been any park hour extensions yet for these specific dates, if they're expecting it to be real busy. Now I'm afraid to see February 1 price when it's published tomorrow...

If this is the new off peak pricing, I hate to see the alternative, lol.
Not really the $35 LLMP for MK as hit $35 several times this month. Jan. 1, 2, 11, 12, 21, 22, (31). As a reference for the $35 price on Jan. 31, The price for Jan. 28-30 is $25.

Yes the UDA National Dance Team Championship 2025 will be at WDW Jan. 31 - Feb. 2 and the Epcot International Festival of the Arts will be in full swing. You picked the same weekend that is now more popular then the last few year.

That's only MK. The other parks though - AK, HS, and Epcot - have higher LLMP pricing than the entire month! Wouldn't MLK weekend be the busiest out of all of January, or is that no longer true as well? Is the dance championship weekend REALLY busier than both MLK and race weekend??

That weekend is also the Pro Bowl in Orlando, so those days will be busier than normal off-peak since spectators are in town with time to fill before the game.

Hopefully the higher prices indicate there will be higher staffing than in the past. We would go that week 6-8 years ago, and they would only run one side of the rides (or half the People Mover cars!). Fingers crossed for you that they will be running at full capacity.

As to whether LLMP is necessary, that depends on how much you want to accomplish. We bought for our two full days during one of the slowest weeks of the year and felt like we got good value. We are a party of two and generally avoid any line longer than 30 minutes. Your value calculations may differ.

Thanks - good to know. We visit most every year late Jan, but it'll be our first experience purchasing and actually using LLMP/SP. Wasn't sure if the pricing moved. Still surprised pricing seems to indicate an expectation of decent crowds - we haven't seen that over the years, but visiting patterns seem to be changing in recent years. I would say last year during the same period crowds were moderate, but certainly not hectic. FOA has become our favorite, so this is when we go!

Oh boy, didn't know about the Pro Bowl! Seems like the perfect storm of events in the area, unfortunately for us :(

Do people actually travel to Orlando to watch the best players in the NFL compete in non-football stuff? There's no actual tackle football game anymore!! The weekend has become rather sad. Maybe just a chance to see the players?? But I don't need to see in person Josh Allen in a golfing competition, or Sequon Barkley playing flag football!

The Pro Bowl is not a major add at WDW as it was when they had events on property. It is just one more thing that is happening that weekend. For example there are 2 more Dance / Cheer events that are scheduled right after the one that ends on Feb. 2 with an After Hours event at HS.

Then end of January and early February are no longer slow periods at WDW or even in Orlando.

I hope they are both @ the Pro Bowl though LOL ....Go Ravens 💜

I guess I spoke to soon... just since when I last checked at 8am EST, the park hours have been updated. MK now showing 8-11 (previous 9-9) and AK extended also. Guess they're expecting crowds! Glad hours were extended at least.

I'm getting $29 for MK on the 30th.
Could they be fluctuating?

Nope just a typo on my part thanks for catching it. The LLMP and/or LLSP or LLPP prices are set 21 days in advance and don't fluctuate. However that is an Internet rumor that makes it into the DIS on occasion.

Well I wouldn't be shocked if at some point in the future Disney will let it fluctuate.
