It's very sweet, and lasts about 15 minutes. The kids parade in with their age group (yes, kids in wheelchairs and other special circumstances can participate). There is the "we discovered the Magic" song repeating on the speakers, and the screens show a montage of pictures that were taken in the kid programs during the cruise. Your kid may have their picture on the screen.
As the song plays, the kids do very simple motions to it--swaying back and forth, etc. This goes on for a few minutes, then they switch to the Mickey Mouse Club song which they do in sign language (M-I-C-K-E-Y-etc) and then Mickey pops out in the middle of the kids and says goodbye to everyone. The kids then exit the stage and go back to the club/lab.
Next, the cruise director comes out for the disembarkation talk....
The kids need to have no special skill, and don't need to know anything. They get a t-shirt for participating. I know it happens on the 4 and 7 day...I've never been on a 3 day, but I can't imagine that they'd skip this.
It's really fun to wear your shirt at the parks. A lot of people will say "Have you been on the ship?" etc.
By age 12, they HATE it, and I've been threatened if I take a picture of HER on the stage, but it is a really cute part of the program. For those of us who grew up with Mickey Mouse Club...well, there aren't a lot of dry eyes.
It's in the main theatre (Walt Disney Theatre) No special skills, they are taught the song and signs....and if they can't do anything, they just sit there.
