End of August - Or Early September?

HI
I'm used to visiting in Mid/Late September and also went this past November.

We are coming from Australia via LA to Vancouver for a Disney cruise to Alaska so thought while in LA we would instead spend 5 nights in Anaheim and go to Disneyland again.

My dates would mean I could either arrive on August 29th for the 5 nights, OR September 5th for 5 nights.

I know it's only a week difference but would it matter which one I choose?
Anything in particular to know about either of these weeks?

I would prefer the earlier dates of arriving August 29th but that's just so we can do our Vancouver nights before the cruise instead of after it. I'd rather do the cruise last before flying home to Australia, but that's not essential.

I also recommend August, though that late in August all MKs are unblocked from the summer.

Your Sept dates will probably be the first full week of Halloween, so there will likely be Halloween parties starting that week. In 2022 Halloween at Disney officially started on Sept 2

Having done the end of August before, I’d vote for those dates. Area schools are all back in session (I believe), weather is good though hot. The only downside I remember was Haunted Mansion being down so the holiday overlay could be installed.

Thankyou, I do love Haunted Mansion but we rode it a few times this past November with the overlay so should be fine to miss it.
Labor Day is September 4, so 9/1 to 9/4 will be busier due to the three-day weekend.
hmmm, I didn't think of that. This could change things.

My vote would normally be the end of August but given the dates you are looking at, I would pick early September instead. Arriving Aug 29th would mean you would be there for the Labour Day weekend, which we always avoid. September 5th would have you there right after the long weekend and also after pretty much all North American schools are back in session.

As for your Canadian part, have you thought about taking an extra few days and popping over here to Vancouver Island? If you do, let me know and I am happy to give you some ideas for things to do here!

I second this. Vancouver Island is way more breathtaking (I live in Victoria, and have since I was tiny - other than a 7 year stint in Ottawa).

We will be spending 5 days in Vancouver before our Cruise. So we will be visiting DL for 5 days, then Vancouver for 5 days then the 8 night cruise then home to Australia.

You should consider checking out the Island. More beautiful than Vancouver. It is a 95 minute ferry ride away:)

I'll have a look, but I think we will probably just stick with Vancouver this trip. If we love the Alaska Cruise (which I'm sure we will) we may venture to the island if we come back.
