I'm really leaning toward signing up for my first marathon in November. Had not planned for this until spring, but if I can tick off 15 miles on any given day with no problems another runner told me I'd have no trouble getting ready in 12 weeks.

Regularly aim for an average of 10 miles a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. Not accustomed to days off, although I see that is part of the package in training.

Any opinions?

You are doing 70 miles a week, 10 miles a day average with no days off? You are way ahead of us on here. Most of us feel we are ready when we have a few 35 to 40 mile weeks under our belt.

Some days 12, some days 8. Maybe 6 or a half marathon. I just run until I get back home.:) I've started making myself walk a day here and there because I read I was supposed to. Those days I will usually lift weights or do machines at the gym.

How do you know when you're ready?

And, how do I carry water with me? Several friends mentioned bottles in a belt, but I have no idea what that is and where do I buy one? I just run, but a friend about killed me when she knew I'd run 15 without drinking. Yes, I'm a camel.
