My 3 year old niece recently discovered Enchanted. I think she has watched the movie a bajillion times now. So, I want to get her a Giselle doll for Christmas, preferably the doll in the big white wedding dress, but I have discovered, they apparently no longer make anything Enchanted/Giselle. If you go to Disney Store's website and put in Giselle, it tells me there are no results for Giselle or Enchanted. Not even the movie DVD! :confused3 I did find her on ebay and Amazon, but it's weird that Disney Store has NOTHING. Not a doll, not a figurine, Halloween costume...nada. I know the movie came out 4 years ago and Giselle isn't an official princess or anything, but still.....anyone know why they wouldn't have any Enchanted anything at all including the DVD????? Very weird IMHO.

Maybe it's because Amy Adams would have to be compensated for the use of her likeness on a doll?

That's what I thought. Though that doesn't explain why they have *nothing* Giselle related at all. I do wonder if Enchanted was perhaps more of a hit with older crowds? I know my friends and I (late 20's) really enjoyed it. :confused3

I got an Enchanted Dress at Marks and Spencers in London(UK). They even had reversible dresses.

Good luck.

I thought of this because I remember hearing the reason there were no Giselle Meet & Greets in the parks was something to do with Amy Adams. I can't remember the details and it might have just been a rumor, but it was odd that Giselle only appeared in a couple parades. There were dolls out at one time though at the Disney Store. I even remember a CM telling me how popular they were. Still very odd to me that is absolutely nothing now, not even anything of the chimpmunk.

As I recall there were a couple of things going on here.

Giselle was featured in a parade around the time of the movies release, I think it was in one of those little pre parades that they have to promote the latest Disney project or DVD release. Here is a picture I found.

Originally they were going to have Giselle become the first live actress member of the Disney Princess Club. In fact there was packaging of a Giselle Doll declaring her a member of of the Disney Princesses at the Toy Fair in 2007 but it never went farther than that due to royalties that would have to be paid to both Amy Adams and to James Baxter Animation since that animation was not done in house.

I think the cost of Amy Adams life long image rights would be super expensive and would not be worth it as I don't see Giselle becoming a super popular princess. So instead she joins the group of the unofficial princesses like Alice.

Bold by me. This makes sense. I thought it must be something like that. I didn't know that part about Baxter Animation though. That would explain why you can't even find an Enchanted coloring book. Why in the world didn't Disney do the animation in house????

The reason it wasn't done in house is there wasn't anyone left to do it, the last movie with with any hand drawn animation was in 2004 with the immortal Home on the Range. After that they were supposed to go to CGI exclusively, obviously John Lasseter ended that with The Princess and the Frog.

Baxter was chosen becuase he was an animator with the company back in the golden age. He animated Jessica Rabbit, Rafiki, and Quasimodo. He now works for Dreamworks and closed up his company.

Maybe because Eisner gutted the traditional animation capabilities of the studio? :confused3

Enchanted is one of my favorite Disney movies, if not my favorite. I wish there was more out there for it!

Me too Nikki. I love Enchanted. I saw it in the theatre 3 times and I never do that. It's so cute seeing it through my nieces eyes. She thinks it's the coolest thing ever how Giselle turns into a real person from the cartoon. My parents have alot of chipmunks in their backyard, when she saw one running across the porch she asked if he was going to see Giselle! :rotfl:

OK, am I missing something, :confused3 does it HAVE to look like Amy Adams? Because when I looked online, I found this:

on amazon, done via Mattel with the Disney logo. It's the wedding dress, and expensive because it's the wedding dress, but they had different ones (pink dress, etc.) ...

If you look at the upper right corner of the box, Amy Adams name is on the box. I'm sure there was a contract somewhere giving her a cut of those doll sales.
