If I pack the refillable mugs in my online bags will they be confiscated? I think I have done this in the past without an issue, but I woke up thinking about it. I can see someone in security having a bad day and deciding it would hold too much liquid, even though it would be empty.
Is the screener the only person that decides or could I ask for higher up?

Empty = "ok". *IF* (on the 1/4% chance) someone gives you a hard time, THEN ask for a supervisor.

You shouldn't have problems. I usually bring back my empty Disney mug in my carry-on and have never had an issue. :)

However, if you get that *one* TSA agent with a miserable personality, ask for a supervisor.

I bring an empty water bottle with me through TSA every time I fly and then fill it up with water once I go through security. Totally allowed.

packed and inderneath will be no problem. in carry on last fall we had to pitch them.. per the supervisor

Just got back from a trip a couple of weeks ago where we brought a large water bottle and my own travel mug through security without any issues in and out of Orlando.

packed and inderneath will be no problem. in carry on last fall we had to pitch them.. per the supervisor

That is one of the most idiotic things that I have ever heard! (TSA not the poster) An empty mug is not against any regulations. I packed disposable hot/cold mugs in my carry on and nobody asked about them (4 security checks total). To have to throw my mugs away would really make me angry and I would have taken the issue past the supervisor.

We bring them through security all the time. We have yet to have the TSA even comment on them. There is no liquid...so there shouldn't be any question or issue. No way am I tossing out a travel mug that I paid good money for, when it's empty!!! I love to leave home with some hot coffee in my Disney refillable mug. Then, when I get to the airport, I head right to a ladies room, empty it and rinse it out, then on to security. After I get through security, it's over to the coffee shop to get a cup of coffee, that gets poured into my mug.

I ALWAYS have mine in my carry on.....we get coffee for the DME ride back to the airport. As soon as we get off the bus we wipe out the mugs and put them in our bags. Never had a problem.
