Employee Trip to Disney World Cost $160K

Actually not a bad price at all when you look at it.

$5700 per person, and that's for an all-inclusive 5-day trip and $300 child care.

Sure, not a bad price at all, especially for the farmers who didn't pay anything:sad2:

Maybe the post-trip good morale helps grow more fertile crops:confused3

What y'all maybe don't know ... is the trips aren't for farmers. But rather the employees of the Farm Credit Corporation, which is a government run entity.

These folks help secure and provide loans and financing to farmers ... with government money. Basically they provide loan guarantees and assist with downpayments of loans funded thru traditional means (banks, credit unions etc).

Everyone who went on these junkets - were gov't employees who were hired and should be spending the gov't money to help farmers.. not trips to wherever.

Altho - knowing that this is how they reward employees, suddenly I have a yearning to learn the farm financing business...

hahah..

I am a farmer and trips like these are actually very common in our industry. Most of the trips are rewards for farmers who either sell a product as a side line for a company and meet certain sales goals, or for very large users of chemicals who are rewarded for their business.

Some neighbors just returned from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago on a trip provided by a seed company they sell for as a side line business. 5 nights on Oahu with airfare, hotel, excursions, and almost all meals paid for by the company. Another seed company regularly sends farmer/dealers on trips to Cancun, Alaskan Cruises, Las Vegas, snowmobiling in Yellowstone, etc.

Absolutely. But for government employees that are supposed to be helping farmers??? And on taxpayers dime to boot?
