Emmitt Otter jug band christmas??

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Emmett Otter. My daughter and I actually watched it in July. It's such a great, heartwarming movie. I think I'll break it out and watch it tonight while we decorate the tree.

Just rented this from the library the other day. As a child of the 80s, I remember watching this and loving it as a kid. It had been years since I'd seen it and now I can look at it as a marvel in "Muppeteering."

BTW, you may want to check out this thread I started last week on Great Christmas Specials That Don't Air on TV Anymore: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=974785 --- Emmet Otter gets talked about quite a bit.

I used to LOVE this show!! I actually saw it on the Hallmark Channel a few years ago.

One of my nephews used to watch it over and over and OVER again until I thought I'd go NUTS! The characters were really cute, but the music/singing really got on my nerves after a while. Just thinking about it makes me cringe!

Depending on when you first saw the special on TV, you could see two different versions. Many people are used ot the ABC version which added more Kermit, but edited other parts. The current DVD is the original 1977 HBO version, which some would say is missing the added ABC stuff, but is really the original version.

Is that true? If so, I'll buy the DVD immediately. All the reviews (i.e., Amazon) said that the current DVD is the edited version.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I love that movie!

Wow talk about bringing back memories :rolleyes:
I loved emmit.. I think I watched it like a bazillion times

One of my favorites! I got it on DVD at Target.
::yes::
i got one at Target too. My DDs were very excited (me too).
We recorded it off HbO years ago, so we had the original version. Oldest DD said the Special Edition DVD was as it aired on HBO.

I loved that show as a kid, used to watch it every year. I just got it on DVD and haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I remember it being on HBO every year around Christmas.
