EMM Crowds?

The last one we did at MK, we rode 7DMT 10 times, PP once and Pooh once. It was great. Very low crowds and little to no wait on rides. That one is capped at around 200 people. Hoping the one at Hollywood is the same but we won't know until it begins and the reports start rolling in! Which one are you considering? Or both? We have both scheduled for November. And yes, definitely worth the price. After our first one we said it was the best money ever spent at Disney. It's worth it avoiding the crazy rope drop, getting multiple rides on rides with always long lines plus a fabulous breakfast.

Thanks for responding. We are considering the HS one when we go in October. Just didn’t know if the lines were really that short for it to be worth the price.

I would think it would be similar to the MK one as far as crowds and wait times. If not, I will be disappointed!

FWIW, the DHS EMM was just announced and hasn’t started yet, so there’s no track record to go by. There was a brief DHS EMM in 2016 but it included different rides.

The MK EMM has always been billed as a no/low wait event and has a relatively small guest count. Reviews of the experience tend to slant mostly positive, if I had to generalize based on posts on the MK EMM thread.

TBD how this DHS EMM goes, but my guess it will be a roughly similar experience.

The vast majority of reviews I’ve seen on the MK EMM are positive.

I’ve done this event since it was first debuted all the way up to a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve consistently experienced the little to no wait as billed. Combined with a tasty breakfast it’s a no-brainer for us each trip.

Agree with @GADisneyDad14 that its all still TBD on the DHS EMM. I’ll be interested to see reviews both on crowds and food.

We did this in July. I’ve read a number of accounts of people who have been able to ride SDMT as a walk-on (or nearly) ride, many, many times back-to-back. This was not our experience. The crowds were sizable enough that every time we rode SDMT, the line was backed up to the place where the fast pass line goes into the indoors area. This was fine with us, just not the walk-on experience that I’ve read others have had.

I will add that SDMT was down for the first 30-40 minutes of our EMM experience. They had Small World open instead (and told us we could ride SDMT as a FP until noon, which we didn’t try out). We kind of liked that SDMT was down, actually. We felt like we got an bonus ride on Small World! We rode Peter Pan three times, Pooh twice (I think), Small World once, and when SDMT opened up, we rode it twice. We could have gone again, but we were in a hurry to be the first in line for Princess Fairytale Hall. Teacups were also open. We didn’t do those as I can’t manage spinning rides. We opted for some breakfast after Princess Fairytale Hall. I felt the whole experience was very much worth the price (I did not feel the same about the new dinner experience at Be Our Guest!). We are going again next month and again at Thanksgiving!

I’ll be curious to read reports of the new EMM at TSL. Unfortunately it’s not being offered while we are there at Thanksgiving and we will have to skip September as we have a very short trip (going just for MNSSHP); it is being offered the morning after we hit MNSSHP...but that’s a no for us! We are usually early morning people, but we will be sleeping in that morning!

We are doing both MK and HS EMM in a few weeks, cant wait to do them both. Only 9 more sleeps till we fly out.....:tigger::figment:

Of course worth is subjective, but I seem to agree with most people on the boards that EMM is totally worth it. When you think about it, it’s not that much more than a character breakfast and you get good food with basically unfettered access to most of fantasyland. I’m not sure how many people attended EMM with us in July but it seemed like it was way less than 200. We didn’t see a single soul near Winnie the Pooh and only saw 1 other family near PP. We only rode 7DMT 3 times because our kids were in extra-slow-mode that morning, but I’d estimate the crowd there to be somewhere between 25 and 40 people. A CM informed us that IASW was open but we never made it there. We ventured elsewhere at rope drop and came back for breakfast at 9:40. There were, at most, 5-6 other families there at that time and plenty of food left. It would be nice to have another 15-30 minutes on the front end so we could take a more leisurely pace but all things considered we think it is absolutely worth it.

Just realized nothing I wrote applies to DHS but if the new version is similar, which there is no reason not to think it will be, then yes it will be worth it.

The fact that 7DMT was down for 30-40 minutes was likely what was causing the backup when you did ride it. Everyone at the event was trying to get on at the same time.

Agreed. We’ve done MK EMM at least 8 times and there’s never been that sort of wait for Mine Train. One time one of the rides broke down and they added IASW to compensate. Even on that morning we were glad we did it.

We did EMM at Hollywood studios in 2016. We rode Toy Story 4 times in a row without getting off. The did Star Tours 3 times, but they made you get off and come back. We thought it was worth it. Did breakfast last and it was OK.
