EMH...yes or no?

I've seen several posts about not taking advantage of EMH because attendance will usually be higher in the parks for those days. Thoughts?

It depends on whether you have hoppers or not and if you're talking morning or evening. I think morning EMH, particularly at MK, is definitely worth it. You can get so much accomplished in that time and the first couple of hours of park open. Then you can hop to another park, or if you don't have hoppers, you can take a break when the crowds really start pouring in.

If you are an offsite guest, never go to a morning EMH park. It is as simple as that. If we are onsite, we are at rope drop and love EMH. You can hammer out the big rides early. If done right at MK, you zag when everyone zigs. This gets you through most everything before crowds build up.

We are not parkhoppers and will be going this year the week Dec 17-22nd and staying onsite.

If you WILL take advantage of the EMH .. then go.

I find morning EMH pretty incredible if you can get up an hour early and get to the park. You can accomplish so much in that first 60-120 minutes.
Evening EMH? Just depends on the makeup of your group.

Just like any theme park, going the MINUTE a park opens is the best time to go.

We love the night time EMH! Just returned on 1/3 - did the EMH from 12am-3am on 12/30 and the park was practically empty DURING THE HIGH SEASON! (which it would appear you may hit according to your travel plans) We don't get up early, we stay out late, so I can't speak to morning, but we always take advantage of night EMH. Also - we're huge planners, so our dining is in place at the 180 mark and FP's as soon as possible as well. With those in place, we let the rest fall into place. Have fun!

If you're on site you should take advantage of EMH

If you're offsite you should avoid the park(s) with emh

We always take advantage of the morning EMH when we go ... usually during high attendance times. We find that we can see and do a lot before things start getting crowded. We often hit the park early then leave late morning or early afternoon and take a break then back again for the evenings. We have never taken advantage of the evening EMH ...usually because we are early to bed so we can hit the parks at rope drop the next morning!

Like others have said, it depends on whether or not you're staying on-site. I tend to be a park commando and I'm at the parks before they open, so I love EMH, especially AM EMH. But if you're not going to be at the parks before they open or plan to stay during the PM EMH, then I would avoid the EMH parks.

We don't pay any attention to it and just go to the park we want to go to. We do enjoy the evening EMHs though and will hope over to a park having one just to do night time stuff.

We used to always go to MK for the last 15-30 minutes of EMHs on Christmas Day. It always worked, as it never got overly crowded until 10am.

This year we decided to go for the full hour, getting there for the rope drop show. We were able to go on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, People Mover and Pirates of the Caribbean all before the park opened to the general public. About 10 minutes after the park opened we went on Haunted Mansion. Then we had FP+s for Jungle Cruise, Thunder Mountain and 7DMT.

Late-night EMHs are great for kiddie and family friendly rides like Peter Pan, Winnie, etc. Crowds will usually die down within the first hour of late-night EMHs. Peter Pan will have ~20 minute wait, Winnie will be walk-on.

Honestly, it's come to the point at Disney that there's no longer a "slow period" and there's never really a time that it's not crowded. It's just less crowded and less chaotic sometimes. You just need to plan your day and take advantage whenever possible. I certainly wouldn't avoid a park due to EMHs. What I would avoid is falling into the trap and being the person speed walking back to Frozen Ever After or 7DMT. Use those EMHs to target the second and third tier rides most guests will go to when they realize the most popular rides have a 2-hour wait.
