EMH Question

Hey everyone! Quick question; I was reading on the Disney website about how to go about getting Extra Magic Hours, and if I am understanding correctly, if you are staying on site you can take advantage of them if you have a pass from your resort. Is my understanding correct? And if it is, would I simply ask the desk at POFQ for the pass? And does it work for both morning and evening?

Before reading this, I was under the impression that it's basically a whole separate ticket that DH and I would have to buy.

If any of you veterans have any input I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't reached out to our TA yet about it, because I do not believe that EMH for our trip in 2018 have been announced yet. We both would really like an early morning and late night at MK and one late night at AK to attempt Pandora and do a night time ride of EE.

Thanks for any input!!

No physical pass required. For morning EMH, your Magic Band will be scanned to allow access to the park. For evening EMH, it will be scanned to allow access to each attraction. Your onsite stay information is accessed by the MB.

Extra magic hour is included with your resort stay and the price of your regular ticket. All you need is your magic band. Highly recommend taking advantage of the morning extra magic hours - usually relatively low crowds and you can get a lot done.

Kind of a bummer that EE isn't open for evening magic hours at AK.....I was so hoping to ride that at night!!! Maybe by the time I get down there Disney will have a change of heart lol.

So if a park is open early for EMH, do they also open the main gate ahead of that and have a rope drop like they do on regular days? So if there is an 8AM EMH opening, is it advisable to actually get there at 7:30 or earlier?

MK is opening Main St. early. As a general rule I leave my hotel room 1 hour and 10 minutes before opening. Transportation can be frustrating at times.

My experience has been that if EMH is at 8 a.m. then the park will actually open perhaps 10-15 minutes earlier (at most). When Animal Kingdom wasn't as popular (prior to Avatar land) we had good luck arriving around 7:30 for an 8 a.m. morning EMH. One of the first in the park arriving at that time. I think for MK you want to get there no later than 30 minutes before opening if you want to ride 7 Dwarfs, although arriving later is ok if you are interested in something like Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear. Morning EMH at DHS I'd say 30 minutes before opening if heading to Toy Story Mania first thing, but maybe not that early for Tower of Terror or Rock n Roller Coaster. We generally don't do Epcot morning EMH

Hello, to follow up that question, when does access to EMH end? For example, if I check in on 8/1 and check out on 8/2, will I have EMH access on 8/3?

No, it extends from check-in day through check-out day.

If you stay in a Disney owned and operated resort (like POFQ) EMH is an automatic perk and all you need is your magic band or card which are provided to you at no extra cost. Of course you will need ticket media linked to the magic band or card though.
For AM EMH you will scan your magic band or card at the entrance and you will be let in and can go on the attractions.
For PM EMH you'll scan your magic band or card at each attraction.

There is also Extra Morning Magic (EMM) which is a separate ticketed admission. It's confusing! EMM is an additional fee and only 3 attractions are open. EMH is just as explained above and included with your resort stay

Thanks. We don't do roller coaster or thrill ride (except the gentle ones) so our touring plans are laid back. Still might try the early hour just so we can have time at the resort pool early afternoon.

Would still be worth doing at MK. You can ride Buzz Lightyear, Pooh and Peter Pan during EMH
