Good morning all,

I have a few questions regarding EMH. We will be arriving in Anaheim on Sunday, staying at the Fairfield Sunday night and moving into Grand Californian Villas on Monday for 4 nights.

That Monday happens to be EMH for California Adventure and we don't want to miss that, but we won't be checked in to Grand Californian yet. So the first question is, can we bring our luggage over to GCV in the morning (before park opening), bell check it, and "check in" in order to get EMH even though we won't have access to our room until later in the day?

Second question, we are planning on ordering groceries from Von's. Do you specify a time to be there to receive them? Or will the bell staff bring the delivery to your villa?

Thanks in advance!

Don;t know about groceries, but you can definitely go check in early, leave your luggage and hit EMH. :)

For groceries, when you order them online you choose a delivery window. For example "between 1 and 2 pm. It doesn't matter if you are at the hotel or not when they deliver them. We checked in early for EMH at the Grand at 7:30am in September, and just told the bell desk we were having groceries delivered when we checked our bags with them. Later when we were in the room we called down, and had them bring up the bags and the groceries. They also refridgerated perishable items for us. It really couldn't be simpler. FYI I've heard you have to be there at the delivery to sign for your order if you are ordering alchohol (we didn't)

Great! Thank you! Is there anything special you have to do to check in early and take advantage of EMH? Or is that a pretty common request?

Nope, you're just checking in as you would at any hotel. The nice thing is early in the morning there probably won't be a line to check in. They give you your room keys and they text you with the room number when its ready. Once you have your room keys you can use them for EMH.

So how long before our trip should I register on Von's?

If EMH begins at 9, do you think we can arrive at GCH at 8, check in, leave our bags with the bellman, and get back to the gate in time?

You can set up your account anytime, I don't know how far in advance you can order, but I know you can do it a least a week or so in advance. What's also nice is that you can add to your order up to a certain time before delivery (I think the day before) so if you forget something when you initially order, you can add it.

As for EMH and arrival. When we were there the last week of September during the week with 9am EMH lots of hotel guests lined up pretty early to wait for EMH. The day we checked into the GCH, maybe 7:30 or so,we checked-in and we hung out in the lobby until about 8:05 when we started noticing people heading out of the hotel, so we figured we better join them. We were't at the front of the line at security when we got there either, by 8:20 the line at security was quite large. That held true for all 3 mornings we were there when the park opened at 10 (9am EMH) Maybe its calmed down, but if you are trying to do Carsland during EMH, I would try to be at the hotel for check-in a little earlier. Just in case you have to wait in line at the front desk, or it takes a littel longer to check-in. I'd rather have extra time to get there. Hope that helps!

You have your answers here pretty much. We have done both. Check-in early enough (especially you're planning on going to RSR) to get your temporary room keys (so you can use them for early entry), store your luggage at bell services, and line-up at the entrance/gate. If desired, they will text you when your room is ready.

I used Vons both times this year and just advise them when your order is arriving. There are different sized windows of time - the larger the window, the cheaper the delivery cost unless you plan on spending over $150 and then delivery is free :)

I suggest you order two days before - next day is usually harder to get certain window sizes and times of the day. The windows get booked up. You can start an order and see how it is without executing the order now. Because bottles of water were always on our grocery list, we had bell services bring it up to us - I tipped them. Although they will store it, I prefer to be around when delivery arrives. My son always takes an afternoon nap so I scheduled delivery for then. Again, just depends on your schedule, etc.

Have fun!

I would do the Vons order earlier rather than later, so you get the timeframe you want.

If you have alcohol in your order, Bell Services hasn't been able to accept it (as a policy...pixie dust and errors CAN happen) since they don''t know if the orderer is 21+.

If EMH begins at 9, do you think we can arrive at GCH at 8, check in, leave our bags with the bellman, and get back to the gate in time?

I would do it earlier.

Thanks all. Now to working our shopping list. - we tend to overdo this kind of stuff, so want to be tactical.
