EMH & Poly

Hi Everyone,

I just finished booking and paying for our end of August Poly stay. This will be my first trip with my husband and my husband's first trip all together. We had planned to stay at the Poly in large part because of the Monorail. We are okay with taking the boat back from the MK, but our first night at WDW we had planned to go to EMH @ Epcot.

Would you recommend that we look at an alternative resort? Or, is it still worth staying at the Poly?

The issue is that apparently Disney is changing the monorail operating hours and the Epcot monorail will stop running one hour after the regular park closing time and will not run for the entire nighttime EMH (both MK monorails are supposed to make the same change). The new monorail schedules are supposed to be in effect by early August, so it would impact the OP's plans.

They will be running buses from Epcot to the Poly and the other monorail resorts after the monorails shut down for the night. Realistically, therefore, you are in the same situation as every other Disney resort--with the exception of BWI and YC/BC, which are both a short walk from the IG exit at Epcot--in having to use buses after an Epcot evening EMH.

I do think this change will take away a bit of the specialness of staying at the monorail resorts. We tend not to do EMH, but it certainly would be a factor in my decision if I was planning to do Epcot and MK nighttime EMHs.

There will be a bus running from Epcot back the monorail resorts for EMHs at the other parks. No, it's not quite as special as the monorail, but it just isn't that big a deal. The monorail is there for normal hours.....so you'll just have to take buses for EMHs.

I wouldn't switch resorts just because you have to take a bus from Epcot on one night.

It would be way faster to take a bus back to the Poly anyway and less walking then if you took the monorail.

I agree. We're staying at the Poly for the 1st time in late Aug and I considered switching for about 2 seconds. Once I looked at the 'big picture' and realized it will still be nice to have the monorail in the mornings and if we want to take an afternoon pool break from the parks.
For our stay, it's only the 1 nt at Epcot that we would be affected and that's assuming we stay later than 1 hr after regular park closing. We might just be exhausted by then.
I also want to see Wishes from the beach and watch the ELP from the beach too.
