EMH not really EMH in October?

Apologies if this has already been brought up in another thread somewhere, BUT!

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the Extra Magic Hours posted for October are often just the regular park hours? :confused3

I am not sure what you mean by EMH just regular park hours. I see that the regular park hours say on Wednesday October 5 are 9-9 and evening EMH adds up to three hours on that 9 pm closing. So closing for those eligible would be midnight (if open up to three hours later)

EMH hours are never published. You just have to add it yourself. If park hours stated are 9am-8pm then if it's morning EMH park opens at 8am, if its evening EMH park closes at 11pm.

The reason they don't write down the EMH hours are because the websites has to cater to the general public who might not be resort guests and therefore not eligible for EMH.

Keep in mind, they DO shorten MK hours on the nights of MNSSHP. Instead of closing at 9, they close at 6 those nights, giving MNSSHP guests 6 hours to roam MK (or 5, I'm not sure).

But all the parks are open for their normal hours on EMH nights, then have the extra 3 hours tacked on to the end.

Disney World does not have one set of hours all year long. If you go when school's out (peak times) the parks are open longer to begin with; hence, longer hours. Fall hours are always reduced and that becomes the normal hours. Hours are reduced because park crowds are down compared to summertime. Disney adjusts their regular hours based on the time of year, etc.

With that said, whatever EMH times are given for a month you go to the park one hour earlier then the general public opening time for the early morning extra hour and you add three hours to the park's regular closing time for the late extra magic hours. It's that simple.

Parks will be open later to the general public during Thanksgiving week and Chritmas week. Those weeks are considered peak.

Boy, you can sure tell I'm a newbie :rolleyes1

Like the first poster, I saw the Oct 5th hours showing MK open until 9 (coincidently on the same day at evening EMH), and then the rest of the time I saw that MK closed at, for instance 6, on the MK evening EMH, and thought ---hmmmmm, something's weird here.

I think I get it now. They post the regular park hours, and then if you are staying at a resort and can take advantage of the EMH hours, you stay three hours after the posted "regular" hours. Somehow I got it in my head that they would post when the park closes after EMH was done. Sorry for the confusion. I'll get all this figured out yet (maybe)......

Thanks for all your help!

How exactly do they enforce evening EMH? I know resort guests have to get wristbands, but do they go around and evict everyone without a wristband?

No, they're not going to evict anyone without a wristband, however those without one won't be able to get on the rides. If you don't have a wristband, you're certainly welcome to spend your money shopping, you just won't get to ride any rides after closing time.

Can you fill me in on the wristbands? When and where do you get them if you are in the parking already?

I have seen people turned away from rides because they did not have a wrist band but I have never seen anyone asked to leave the park because thay did not have the wrist band. That said, if you do not have the wrist band they could ask you to leave the park [I've just never seen it done]. Also without resort room key you would not be able to get thru the front gate after regular closing time.
Morning EMH does not require a wrist band. All you need is a park ticket and your room key.

We just came back, and I saw some very unhappy people without wristbands being told that they were not allowed on the ride, they could not understant why they could not go.....

in Oct do you think they will add 3 extra hours onto the evening or will it possibly be shorter. Since it reads UP to 3 extra hours I was just wondering what they have done in the past.

It's always been 3 hours. I think they put up to just that up to cover all bases just in case something unforseen happens and they do have to close up earlier than the 3hrs, say terrorist attack, hurricane, major power outage, so on and so forth.

after reading the list posted basically what is closed ..basically what ever mickey's toon town is called now? how busy are the night compared to the morning..wondering ( this is new since we last went) if we could sleep in and stilll have plenty of time..is it off season also? love disney at night and really epcot is the only one open long enough in winter.

indeed Disney is always willing to take your money ;) I've been there times when I forgot to even pick up a wristband. (usually have to rely on my cousin reminding me...must be getting old ;) ) As I tend to go in the summers I am usually exhausted by the time they start the extra hours anyway, but even without hitting the rides, the park is a beautiful place at night so while those without wristbands might not be able to ride the rides, they can still enjoy the environment
