EMH (morning) worth doing at MK? Or avoid?

Trying to get ready for our 60-day FP+ window to open as well as match up the FP+ parks with ADRs - wow, WDW really does want you to do a lot of advance planning, especially compared with when we last went 5 years ago!

We are arriving Wed. May 9, departing Mon. May 14. I am guessing, and most crowd calendars do too, that Wed/Thurs will be our least crowded days in the parks. We want to take advantage by RDing either AK or MK on that Thurs. Our tentative plan has been Thurs, and then RDing MK on Fri, but Fri has EMH scheduled for the a.m. Have seen conflicting advice on whether EMH are worth it at MK. We would definitely arrive in time to take advantage, but wonder if the overall experience would be more crowded, even with the extra hour. Any idea which would be the better plan for Thurs/Fri? And would you do late a.m. FP+ or afternoon FP+ elsewhere and plan to hop (we do have PH).

Right now, we have Sanaa for 5:10 on Thurs, so AK is the tentative plan for Thurs (and we have 7:15 at Ohana on Fri), but we could change those....

Thanks for any input!

We love AM EMH!

If you are willing to arrive in time to be inside the park the full time the AM EMH is in session, the rewards can be great.

Most folks simply will NOT get up early on vacation!
Nothing will change their minds.

If the AM EMH park starts to get busy as the morning progresses, we take a lunch break and/or hop to another park.

True rewards await those who choose wisely. ;)

Highly recommend a 7DMT FP+ and then head over to every other E ticket or A-list Fantasyland/Tomorrowland attraction. At 10 minutes before actual park opening (e.g. last 10 minutes of EMH), find yourself in the corridor between Pan and iasw. Then rush the Frontierland mountain range.

Great video from Touring Plans uses 7DMT to show you how quickly wait times rise in the morning if you aren't at the front of rope drop.

I'm all for EMH at MK. Our last three visits we did RD one day and the other we did the EMH for MK and we loved it. We're early birds so it's a non issue getting up and getting to the parks early so for an EMH day, we will typically arrive by 8:15 or so, just depends on our mode of transport to the park. But you could get there earlier and get in before that. We are usually able to get a good number of rides before our first FP+ which we usually start after around 11am or so. I am not a PH fan, just don't love it and don't see the necessity in hopping unless you have less than 3 days of park visits. But if you don't want to get up as early for MK EMH you could swap your AK and MK days and do MK on Thursday and just RD the park. Thursdays are usually less crowded but it's 6 of one half dozen of the other IMO. You just don't know exact crowd levels until you're there. I think if you're willing to get to either park early, you'll have a great visit at both. Our plan of attack of hitting the parks early always helps us get in a good number of attractions before the parks get really crazy around mid morning. Then midday if it's too insane for us, we leave and come back later or if you want to hop then by all means, as soon as you use your last FP+ then you can try for FP at the other parks. Have fun!

If you have a PH, then going to EMH will be great for you. The parks can be more crowded on EMH days but the EMH themselves are great. I haven’t done MK early EMH yet, but have done evening EMH at MK at morning EMH at Epcot. At MK that day, it was super busy, but the lines moved really fast that night. (All our favorite rides broke down or weren’t open that night though.) Epcot morning EMH were great (I’m guessing MK morning EMH are just as great or better than Epcot because there’s more options!)- we love Soarin’ and we don’t consider going on our favorite rides once or twice a day successful- 4 times per day is the minimum. In previous trips, we had struggled to do Soarin’ because the line was always 2 hours and we were trying to do TT too. But when we did EMH we went on Soarin’ 4 times in a row (3 during EMH, the last time we got in line just before everyone was let in. The posted wait time had been 10-20 minutes the whole EMH. When we got off the last time, the posted wait was 70.) Definitely do all the EMH you can and simply park hop.
