Hey there! Although I'm very familiar with Disney World, I haven't been to Disneyland in like 4 years. (Right when Carsland came out!). This year for my graduation gift I'm getting a Premier Annual Passport (the one that covers WDW and DL) and will be going to Disneyland in August. Since we are staying off site, I was wondering if there's early park access available to people with a premium annual pass? I know my parents will get one morning for buying a 3 day hopper, but I'll be salty if they get to get in early and I have to wait even though I have a more expensive ticket! Any information you could give would be great! I can't wait to see the Hatbox Ghost! :D <3

There is no EE for APs unless they stay on site. When they did briefly offer AP EE several years ago it was for the opposite park of the regular MM/EMH. If they do offer it again I highly doubt it will be in August when there is already 8am openings and parks are crowded. And not at the start of a major promotion like the 60th. Last time it was in March.

You didn't specify when you're getting your AP... but if you're planning on getting it for your August trip, you could always just get a 3-day hopper like your parents, and then after you use your MM, you can convert your 3-day hopper to an AP. Have a wonderful trip, and congratulations on your graduation!

Aww that stinks. I'm going to Disney World for my birthday in June and that's when I'll be getting my AP- otherwise that would be a great suggestion MickeyGirl! I guess I'll have to live without that extra hour- thank goodness the Fastpass system is still workable! This is unrelated, but does anyone know if you can still "double dip?" between parks and also with a hotel key and park ticket? (I know you'd have to stay onsite to use the hotel key- but since I'm going at least twice this year I figured I'd ask.)

I don't quite follow, but you need a valid park ticket to get FPs. The two parks are "disconnected" from each other, so you can get FPs in DL without impacting your ability to get a FP in DCA.

An onsite hotel key will not give you a FP...only a ticket or AP.
Like other posters mentioned, you will not have access to EMH/MM if staying off site. With your parents ticket, they will only be eligible to use the MM at DL on either Tue, Thurs or Sat. As an AP holder who likes to stay off site, I say just start at the park that does not have EMH/MM. The DL MM only has FL and TL open anyway...

Okay- I remember when you used to be able to use both! Thanks for answering all my DL questions guys! :D

Just go to the park without EMH/MM. It will be very similar to having the EMH in terms of crowds, but you can sleep an extra hour. I do wish they'd give us some AP early entry days again though. Those were fun times.

Yep. As beachdremr said, we always do rope drop at the park without EMH and it works out even better for us.

So to piggyback on the op's post....I was thinking about getting a premier passport but I didn't want to miss out on at least one morning of a magic morning. So could I get a 3 day pass use it to enter one day on our arrival and then use the magic morning the next day for day two and then perhaps sometime on day two upgrade to a premier passport and just pay the difference? Thanks!

Yes, you can do this. This is what I did in January. I like Magic Mornings. I know some aren't crazy about them, but I always get a ton of stuff done in that first hour.

Awesome news. If we only plan to go to one park before we upgrade we shouldn't get the park hopper option right. But the premier pass is like a park hopper right? Thanks again!

when I did this, I bought a hopper, because the lines at the ticket booths can be pretty awful. They move at a snail's pace. That way I was free to hop if I wanted if the line at the ticket booth was too long when I went to upgrade. It doesn't really matter what you buy first, the price will be applied toward your AP. And yes, all APs are hoppers. Don't forget to use your AP discount. :yay: And enjoy!!

I was at Disneyland 3 weeks ago with my family. They purchased 5 day Park Hoppers and I have a Premium Annual Pass. On their "Magic Morning", I asked at the gate *very nicely* if I might be able to enter with them and I was allowed in! I had expected to be turned away, so I was going to head to Starbucks at Downtown Disney, but I was happily allowed in. Now, don't assume you will be allowed in if you ask and don't get upset if you're told you may not enter, but it is at least worth asking. I have never used a "Magic Morning" before, so it was a nice little bonus to go in early with my family :-)

Note:
"Magic Morning" is the early admission to DISNEYLAND ONLY, which is available on 3-5 day passes.
"Extra Magic Hour" is the early admission to Disneyland or DCA, depending on the day, and is ONLY available to guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels. There is no EMH early entry available to DCA for guests staying off-site.
