EMH - Getting wristbands?

I thought I read a while back that they check a photo ID to match the name on your resort card when giving out wristbands for evening EMH. Is this true? I'm just not sure I want to carry my driver's license around in the parks all day. It would be so easy to lose it that way. Thanks!

Ours wasn't checked, but that's not to say that yours won't be. I'd bring it along just in case, it would be a shame to have to go back and get it.

In June they checked at some locations, but not others. I always take my driver's license just in case I need an ID. If you have another form of ID with a photo that wouldn't be such a big deal to lose....maybe a Sam's card? might work. I also carry a photo ID for DS13 even though he doesn't need to have one...it's a just in case thing since I never know when he might need it. His school issued duplicate school IDs with photo so I keep one with me and he has the other.

In April they didn't need to see a photo id at the main gate to Epcot

Went in April '05 got the wrist bands twice and they only checked our KTTW card. That was in the park at MK. I would be in trouble if so...we only carry our KTTW card on us and leave our DLs in the hotel safe.

the wristband thing seems like a hassle-why don't they accept room keys. what if I go to epcot then to mk at 9pm for emh-no wrsitband-will I get in?

thanks for your help. :bounce: :hourglass

The wristbands, I believe, allow the CM's to see at a glance that you're supposed to be there. They don't clear the park then only allow resort guests back in. Otherwise after the "regular" closing time they would have to ask to see cards from every guest at every ride.

You would get your wristband when you showed your room card getting into the park for EMH.

When we were there in July they just checked the dates on your ID resort key. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just wondering?

How closely do they look for wristbands?

We were in Disney back in early Dec 2000 (best trip ever!) for the MVMCP
which required that people have wristband to stay for the party. I saw plenty of kids riding rides that did not have wristbands... This was not a busy time so I assumed it wasn't that hard to check but it seemed like more than a few people tried to see if they could get away with it....

Everyone can walk around the parks without a wristband, but the CM should not allow them to ride attrations without a wristband.

We went to EMH at MK last month. Did not need ID, but had it anyway. (We always carry it, just in case.) The CM at Space Mountain would not let the people ahead of us into the line because they were not wearing wrist bands. BTW, we didn't think it was much of a hassle to get the wrist bands. They had 2 CM's scanning the KTTW cards & about 4 CM's putting on wrist bands. It went very quickly.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the board and I just had another question about the wrist bands... do you have to get them before the two hours til closing, or anytime in between 2 hours before closing and closing.

That sounds confusing. I'm going to animal kingdom til 5 and wanted to go to magic kindom for the rest of the night (open til 8 with evening magic hours) but I'm afraid I won't get to MK in time to get a wristband.

thanks!

Do they try to clear out the parks at EMH and how do they do that?? Do they announced over loud speakers or something to let people know that Disney is now closing accept for those staying at their resorts??? Ditto on the question about the wristband. How soon can you get one? I've heard that there can be long lines for them. Are there special places that they hand these out??? I wonder if you can get one when you enter the park??? :flower:

To answer the above two posts:
You do not have to obtain your wristbands two hours before EMH. They start distributing them at that time so there is no huge crowd looking for them when the EMH starts. You can get your wristbands anytime from that point on. You can even arrive at the EMH park after "official" closing time and (as long as you are a Disney resort guest) you will be allowed into the park and given a wristband. There are something like three locations in each park where they give them out. I believe if you go on allearsnet.com they give the locations. The distribution area closest to the park entrance will always have the longest lines. Go inside the park and you will have no wait.

They do not clear out the EMH park of non-resort guests. Everyone is allowed to stay and shop or whatever. Only guests with wristbands are allowed on the rides and attractions once the EMH starts. Most Cast Members take this very seriously and I have seen people waived off lines because they did not have wristbands.

In June we only had to show our room keys to obtain wristbands.

Just back and they now use scanners. They scan everyone in your party's room ID and you have a wristband put on your wrist if you ID scans that it is still active. If your ID has been scanned already it tells the CM that it has been used which keeps folks from handing their IDs to non resort friends. Make sure that you take all of your IDs into the park, even if they are not hoppers as your entire party needs to have one scanned.
