We have missed out on seeing the Osborne lights our past couple of trips and would really like to this time around. Is it a good strategy to use a night with EMH to view them or will it be just as crowded as any other night?

It is a good night to see them, and yes it will be just as crowded (or a little less crowded, or a little more crowded.)

In other words, just go see them and don't worry about what really can't known in advance.

I have been to see the lights several times. When they first come on it is a mad house. However, I have been there during the busiest times of the years and late at night, maybe the last hour the park is open, the streets are dead. It was surreal to be among only a handful of people that were there other than the CMs. I can't guarantee that it will get that dead every night, but it certainly empties out after the lights have been on a while.
