Let's say on a family vacation you could leave your resort (CBR in this case) at ~9pm and head to MK on an EMH Evening (10pm-12pm) without kids.

Would the hassles be worth it for that 2-3 hours of kid free park time?

I would probably have to purchase a park hopper, deal with CBR buses, possibly deal with kids upset the next day that they got sent to bed with grandma instead of more park time.

I say yes, because night time EMH at MK is one of my absolute favorite things. I love that it's an older crowd, emptier, and the nighttime atmosphere of each land can't be beat.

BUT I don't have kids, so I can't speak to how much that would outweigh their wrath the next morning!

Absolutely, I would. Having some adult-time without my kids at night..... priceless!

Here's our experience from a recent summer evening. 8 pm - Midnight (non EMH)

Big Thunder 3x
Splash Mtn 2x
Space Mtn 2x
Mine Train (10 min wait right a closing time)
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Pooh
Peter Pan
Speedway
Barnstormer 2x

Your experience could be similar.

It would be totally worth it! I was there in July and after a full day at AK and EP with our entire group, DD14 and I headed to MK at 10pm with a 12am close. We were at AOA and had a bus to ourselves! Tons of folks were leaving as we arrived. The crowds were low and wait times were short. We even rode 7DMT standby. It was our 1st trip and MK was absolutely beautiful and we had the best time. We didn't actually leave the park until after 1am since the shops were still open. Do it!!!!

I remember when MK use to have E-Ride Nights where only a certain amount of people could buy tickets and the park would stay open for only those people. It was awesome.

I am one of those that said YES. I don't stay on site much, maybe one or 2 nights a year, but fully take advantage of EMH AM or PM no matter which park. I feel it's a definite perk to staying on-site you can accomplish so much in the time allotted.

OP one other thing, those moving skeleton heads are really creeping me out

Definitely worth it! The times we've done EMH at MK the park has been noticeably quieter and we were able to pretty much walk onto which ever ride we wanted. Plus, there is something magical about being there late, and the whole park, especially the castle and Main St. USA look beautiful lit up and you're able to get some decent photos without thousands of people being in your shot!

Both AM and PM are totally worth it! For the morning, not many resort guests are willing to get up that early, so you can choose most rides for that hour. For PM, people start filtering out of the park as the night goes on, the rides start opening up and the lights are beautiful! Great to see from Splash or BTMRR (which is way better at night).

And there is something truly magical about walked down MS at sunrise, or how different the park is at night.

It's only a hassle if you word it like that! Let them have a special treat that night like popcorn or getting to watch a movie. You don't have to tell them you are going to ride a bunch of rides without them.

Purchasing a park hopper isn't a hassle, just an added expense that you can make the most of during your trip. EHM in the evening is my most favorite time to be in MK. I love when it is dark, the park really starts to empty and you can get on multiple rides with little to no wait. Usually within the last hour everything is a walk on and sometimes the CM will let you stay in the ride vehicle if there isn't a line. Heck you could even stick around and watch the kiss goodnight.

Do you stay away from the park with evening EMH for daytime touring? Or do you find the evening EMH park is not much more crowded?

Parks that have EMH in the morning or evening tend to be really busy in the middle of the day. I thinks thats why they recommend staying away from those parks on EMH days.

But if you get in early on a Morning EMH and can hop out of the park once it gets crazy or only enter the park in the evening for the late hours you good. When we went in summer we would hit MK early then leave in the middle of the heat to cool down then come back and stay til 2AM or 3AM when they stayed open that late.

As a parent who went with kids I would have loved to spend a little time without them to do our stuff. We did start going on trips without them later and they can deal with it.

Your kids should appreciate that you take them to Disney and not be upset that Mom and Dad want to spend a little late night out while they stay with Grandma.

Do MK the same day, you return to the same park so no park hopper needed. Busses are not as crowded at night, but I would head back a little earlier than 10 pm. You will be heading in while everyone is heading out!!

And just tell the kids you need some grown up time - they don't need to know you went back to the park, just that you went out!
