Ive only just realised I've been telling people on the board and friends travelling there the EMH Stands for Early rather than Extra! Oops! Must be because we aren't generally early risers that I've confused it.

We used EMH on our last trip both days and I mentioned to the kids we got in before Joe Public as we were staying at the hotel onsite. DD looked puzzled by this and on the second day, she looked round for a few minutes and eventually asked where Joe Public was and when would he be allowed in and did he have to wait for us. One of these things you as a parent forget, kids have probably never heard the term... Once we'd stopped laughing, we explained it to her.

We always refer to it as Early Morning Hours :lmao: I even said this to the CM when checking into our hotel, but he seemed to know what I meant :goodvibes

I thought it stood for Extra Magic Hours and my DH always laughs when I say 'extra magic hours' and calls me a big kid but I know he secretly loves my excitement for Disney and EXTRA MAGIC HOURS :rotfl2:

The Joe Public was classic .. that brightened up my work afternoon with a good giggle :thumbsup2

Bless her - out of the mouth's of babes! :lmao:

Aw - bless her! :rotfl:

Although the E might as well stand for Early in DLP's case as I don't believe the extra hours have ever been in the evening? Or has there ever been a case when they were? :confused3

Poor Joe Public - having to wait outside by himself while everyone else is having fun!! :teeth:

Very funny! :goodvibes

We were there several years ago when they trialled EMH and there were some evening ones as well. We had to show our hotel easypass and collect a wrist band which we then had to show to get onto the rides. They werent all open but I remember doing BTM and PoC so more than open in the mornings.
In fact I think it was the first year we went and the park was open til about 11 on a couple of evenings

If they tried evenings again with the late hours, it would be great for those staying onsite - park would become much quieter - BTM etc better to get on and viewing for Dreams would be much roomier!

Come to think of it, I don't know why they don't try it - they have the park open late anyway for Dreams. I would think a lot more people would be persuaded to use the onsite hotels if they knew they were getting 2 'exclusive' hours at the end of the day, rather than getting up so early, when the parks are open so late, as it makes for such a long day!

Hope that makes sense! (and.... I hope someone from DLRP is reading and makes a mental note :lmao:).

I'm exactly the same with my extra magical hours. It's all I blooming go on about and the OH takes the mick for some reason :confused3

I can't help it, EMH are very important to me :rolleyes1

i dont think they would be able to close the park and have Dreams just for onsite guests. I think there would be a lot of complaints if they did as it would be like an exclusive party. The idea of EMH is extra time before park opening or in this case closing so dreams would be as the park closed with the EMH after.
Also its very difficult to get guests out of the park who dont have access to EMH - as I said we got wristbands and they checked them going onto rides but people were still in the park shopping, eating and would be watching any entertainment as well

I did point to someone outside later and said that was Joe Public but she didn't believe me by then....:rotfl2:

They just don't get it do they! :confused3 I'll have to try Extra Magical Hours and see what DH's reaction is to that one :rotfl: He says I say it soooo much that it just sounds wrong now :rolleyes1

Evening EMH would be fab. :)

In WDW it's for an extra 3 hours. And most rides are walk on in our experience.

Other guests can stay in the parks to shop or eat at counter service, but if you want to eat at table service or ride the rides then you have to show your room key. So DLRP could easily do that by having a CM at each ride checking EasyPasses. Much easier than needing to get a wristband. :)

Although that being said I'm already dreading the 11pm closes next week so not sure I could make it until 1am. It's very different on a 2 week break where you can do a 1/2am evening and then not feel guilty about having a lazy morning. At DLRP I feel like I need to be up and out!

Oh I know Small World - in practice late EMH probably wouldn't work but it would be great if you were staying onsite. It just means you wouldn't need to be up so early every morning so could probably manage the late nights more IYSWIM.

Torsie - that is interesting about WDW - didn't know that. I'll have to pick your brains when we look to go in 2015 :lmao:. Bit of a while away yet though! Need to save up now....!
