Emergency Contact Number

Whenever we travel I always give my mom and sister the phone number of the hotel we are staying at in case there is an emergency. Is there a phone number that they could call to reach us on the ship if need be? Do cell phones work while on the ship? My mother has some health issues and I would hate to think that my sister won't be able to ge ahold of me if she needed to.

Cell phones do not work on the ship. The number for ship to shore calls is included in the literature you get with your documents. Be aware that the cost is(was) $6.95 per minute, so it's definitely an "emergency only" thing for us.

I got this # from guest services while aboard the Magic: 011-874-330-851-612 . I think it is a very expensive call though, and you might need a credit card to charge to, but this isn't the published # from the paperwork you get. I think this # is only for the Magic and not for the Wonder.

This is the number that is listed on DCL website for people on land to get hold of people on either the Magic or Wonder...1-888-322-8732.

As the others have said...it is very expensive and should only be used in case of an emergency for unlimited funds!!!

Allow me to share a personal experience with emergency phone calls on the Magic - we were in the middle of the ocean when we were paged both on the child's pager and PA system on the ship, people also came to look for us - we had an emergency call from shore. Our adult son had been hospitalized and was in a coma.

DCL staff made sure we got the phone call and checked on us later many, many, many times to see if there was anything they could do for us, get for us, etc, etc. Outstanding people included our server Roger from Brazil (who has since left the ship), Rico from Phillipines (Guest Services), Carol Ann from DVC along with a few others who "heard" and were concerned.

Thankfully our son recovered without problems, but our vacation was ruined due to the stress and anxiety of not knowing what was going on and if he would survive - DCL did themselves proud to keep us an active phone line and go out of their way to do what they could to assist us.

You can never know the anguish of being so far from home and having an emergency, but at least I know DCL does care and comes through.
