Emerald Island?

If you are looking for a home to stay in off property you could always try Windsor Hills. They have amazing homes!

We stayed there in Nov. It is a nice resort, very well looked after, nice landscaping. The clubhouse has a fittness room and there are activities planned for certain times. There is a tiki bar by the clubhouse pool that has drinks and a lunch type menu. There's a playground and other type sports and a nature trail. We've stayed at Windsor Hills a few times and liked it but we also liked Emerald Island a lot. :thumbsup2

We stayed there once in a townhome that was in the section that's up front and sort of separate from the rest of the resort. It's not behind the manned guard gate, but had a gate where we entered a code to enter. I would not stay in this section again, but would stay in the main resort. I think that the separate section was only townhomes, and there are also townhomes in the main section as well as individual houses. I just didn't like the "feel" of the separate townhome section. And having to take our own trash to the dumpsters really didn't help, but hopefully they've rectified this issue since we stayed there 2 years ago. (At that time only the individual homes had curb-side trash pickup and the townhomes had to carry their own trash to a dumpster which involed putting it in the back of our own minivan and driving it to the dumpster and then touching the icky dumpster to get the door open to deposit our trash. Definitely not the best way to start your day on the way to the parks!

Mareed you will be glad to know there is now valet trash in the town homes both inside and outside the gate.

That's excellent news! We visited the clubhouse in the main resort section and thought the resort was very nice.

I am staying at Emerald Island in May and am very interested in as much about the place, location directions etc as possible.

We stayed at Windsor Hills last year, but they did not have the right kind of layout for the people travelling this year.

This website is the place to find it all.

Here is some additional information. Also go on the websites I have provided there is a lot of stuff you can look through. What airport are you flying in on is it Sanford? I can give you directions from there if you like?

This is a website of a shopping area within 5 minutes from EIR. You do not hae to drive on any major roads to get here. It is very convenient!

Short cut to Disney property from EIR
Turn right leaving Emerald Island Resort onto Funie Stead Rd
at stop sign take left onto Formosa Gardens Blvd
At light turn right onto 192 east
turn left at the first light onto Sherberth Rd
follow to light
at light take right unless going to Animal kingdom lodge

On return follow signs to Animal Kingdom lodge and at light take left onto Sherberth Rd

Grocery Stores
At the Junction of the 192 and Funnie Steed Road is a Winn Dixie
If you turn left on the 192 and drive for approx 1 or so miles to Orange Lakes you will find a Publix Supermarket (on the right hand side).

If you continue left on the 192, take the 27 north (right tuen), just after you get onto the 27 there is a 24 hour Walmart with groceries. Turn right at the first set of stop lights to access it. The walmart is set off the road with smaller stores/restaurants in front of it so it may not be instantly noticeable.

If there is anything else you will need please PM me and I will try to accomidate you.

Our family has rented a villa with private pool there twice and just loved the community - it is gated for security, the homes are lovely, the clubhouse and entire property are very well maintained and the location is wonderful and close to WDW and 192 yet quiet and relaxing. We would highly recommend it.
