Our man/co took over at the end of summer in 07.

If it took place before that they were not responsible.

I am not sure when exactly it took place but I do know that they have managed our home for 3 years and we have been very pleased and I am a tough critic.
 
Thank you all for your positive replies. I actually talked to the current management company today. She told me the same thing: that they took over at the end of Summer 2007, because of difficulties with the old management company. She also said that the carpets were being replaced this Fall, so the place should be in great condition by December. She was very nice, and understood my concerns.

I am just relieved to hear some positive news about the place! Can't wait to see it in person. I will definitely share when we get back.:cool1:
 
Sounds like a plan.

Just to ease your mind the man/co are very guest friendly.

Just for instance:
Our fridge went things happen the home is 4 years 3 months and the fridge went any how our guests reported it to me directly in the morning and by the late afternoon it had been replaced. That is a great thing when your reputaion is at stake.

The main reason that I have concerns with this property is how the owners treated their own vacation property. The owners stayed in the townhome the 10 days before we did. It was because of them and their trash and their spills that the carpet had to be cleaned and the place had to be sprayed for bugs. We stayed their in August of 2007, so I don't know if the management company has changed or not. But to show up and not have it cleaned and the management company had no idea that it hadn't been cleaned is unacceptable.

I agree that it was unacceptable for the owners to leave their property in that condition for the next guest. I'm sure they were planning on having it cleaned prior to your arrival, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. I'm hoping that it was the previous management company that was at fault, and that is the reason for the switch in management companies. If I had heard your story prior to booking, I would not have gone through with it. However, I have put down a non-refundable deposit, and have heard enough other positive comments that we will stick with our plan. At this point, I feel like I just need to trust that things will work out for the best. Either way, I will definitely be posting reviews when we get back!

Other than the unit itself, how did you enjoy Emerald Island?
