Hi all!:) DH and I decided 2 days ago to head south and I've been looking to rent a villa (which I find is very hard to do in March!:sad2: )I have managed to locate a nice condo in Emerald Island and was wondering what those that have been there think of the resort?

Also was wondering if they have any kind of entertainment in the evenings at their club house/pool? We spent a week at Summer Bay Resort last November and there usually was some kind of entertainment around the pool ie: karaoke etc. Just thought it would be nice to sit and have a drink in the evenings.

Thanks in advance of any help!:goodvibes

I know they are planning a karaoke contest on St. Pattys Day.

I have only been back a few weeks and do not know what else is planned. If I get any further info I will pass it on.

We love it but as an owner I am biased.

If you are interested in some pictures here is a website of EI homes that has many pics of the resort.

Hope you have a great time there.

We rented homes at E.I. the last two years (once in March, once in May) and we were very happy with how lovely the resort is, how quiet it is, and how close it is to the WDW parks and to restaurants, grocery stores, and other venues (mini golf, dinner theatre, etc.). However, it does not have a "resort feel". We did use the main pool twice last May and we were the only people in it both times. We never even saw neighbors or anybody walking around. We like this (the parks are crazy enuf), but you may not if you are seeking a more lively atmo.

Deb thanks very much for the link and information! It looks really nice.;) And I can see why you'd be a "little biased" as I would too!:goodvibes

Mainebound that is the kind of atmosphere DH and I are looking for! Peace and quiet after the parks!:thumbsup2

I my opinion, EI is one of the most beautiful resort communities around.
The palm tree lined entrance and the dolphin fountains are just beautiful.
I do not think you will be disappointed. It is a very tranquil setting, but within in minutes to WDW and every restaurant you can imagine.

We love it there!!

The owner that we are renting from said that they had updated the clubhouse and have built a Tiki Bar. Has anyone seen these?

We leave for EI in 43 days and my youngest DD cant wait to see her dolphins.

Just like everyone else said, EI is quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to the parks taking the back Formosa street. We are hooked on staying at EI. I never felt crowded but always peaceful and relaxed.

We love Emerald Island, but are a little biased as one of our homes is on there. It feels such a nice, grand resort when you are there. An oasis away from the bright lights and noise of the 192 and the parks.

The clubhouse is evolving. There is a new concierge service in the clubhouse and they have started out with some nice amenities. They even sell attraction tickets in the clubhouse now. Looking at the way the concierge has started off, I am sure that things will just get better and better!

I am getting so excited now from reading all of your wonderful comments about EI!:yay:

I just got confirmation this morning that we will be getting the townhouse so I'm really looking forward to the quiet of the resort. We originally tried to stay on the Gulf side (since I got a last minute great deal with Spirit airlines to Tampa)but there isn't a place available that doesn't cost you 2 arms and 3 legs! So we decided to come back "home" to the Orlando area but we still wanted that relaxed feeling type of holiday and I think we're going to get it!;)

Can someone give me directions to get to EI from the 192 coming from the I-4?I haven't spoken with the owner yet as she had to go out but she's emailing me when she returns home with more info. Also I read that there's a shortcut to WDW?:goodvibes

I would (and have) done I4 to the 27. From the 27 you then go East on the 192. Turn right at Formosa Gardens Blvd. Follow that road to the stop sign, turn right, go under the bridge and shortly after you will see the turning to EI on the Left. Using this route, you can take a slight detour to the 24hour Walmart which is off the 27, just above the 192 junction. You also pass a publix supermarket at Orange Lakes.

There is a new toll road that goes from the I4 to the 192, but I have never taken this as it has only recently opened so I can't give you directions that way.

Another option is to follow the I4 all the way to the junction with the 192 and then take 192 west, but I do know there are roadworks at this junction which may or may not impact the turning that you need to take.

Shortcut to Disney. From EI entrance turn right & go under the bridge. At the stop sign turn left (Formosa Gardens Blvd). Follow this to the junction with the 192 where you will turn right. As soon as you have turned, get into the left hand lane. You will be making a left at the next set of lights (Sherberth Road / Entry Point Blvd). Turn left and follow this until you get to another set of stop lights. Turn right. Follow the signs to whenever park you are travelling to. Animal Kingdom is closest, so if you are heading there, get into the LD lane as soon as possible. For the other parks, the turning is further down the road, but again it is a LH turn - so be prepared.

Enjoy.

Thank you so kindly Kay! :groom: I'll print these directions off and take them with us.:thumbsup2
