I confirmed with National that my Emerald Club membership is still active. I joined years ago and no longer have my card or number. They only need me to update my information with them.

I am reserving an economy car for budget reasons. Is membership in the Emerald Club meaningless or is there still some advantage for me? I read on one of the threads that the Emerald Aisle is only for intermediate and full sized cars.

Thank you! I really appreciate being able to tap into such a knowledgable resource!

You're right-The Emerald Isle is for intermediate cars and up so no need to use for a compact. You could still use the Emerald Club number to see if it gives you any discount, but you won't be able to select Emeral Isle as an option if you pick compact car.

You may be able to use Emerald Choice for Economy, which means you can skip the counter and go straight to the lot to pick a car. Your paperwork is done on the way out.

EA is for intermediate, for compact and economy, there is no Emerald Choice selection, just counter.
Choice is available for Premium, luxury, vans, suv's, & converts.

That wasn't true last December at MCO. We are Emerald Club members and rented a compact car from National and had Emerald Choice service. Didn't stop at the counter, selected a car from the compact aisle, used the DC contract ID and coupon codes in the reservation made online and had no problem at the exit.

Hi Carol,
I went in and made a "dummy" reservation for a compact and the only choice was counter. Perhaps things have changed since the Alamo/National thing. I also did it for economy and the same thing happened.

My reservation did say counter. However, when I went to the counter at MCO, the agent said I didn't have to stop there - she sent me to the garage, said to pick the car I wanted from the compact aisle and did nothing for me at the counter. (There weren't many people in line when I arrived so it really didn't slow me down, much, fortunately). Maybe this is unique to MCO. I think as long as you are an Emerald Club member, you can bypass the counter even if you reseved an economy or a compact and your reservation says counter. I'm not planning to stop at the counter on my next trip to MCO.

Thanks for the info, Carol. I think it would make it far easier for all involved if they would be more specific. :)
