Hello

Can someone explain to me how this works at the MCO airport. I'm going with two other families and we are each renting an intermediate car from national, I just want to know what to expect and want to explain to the others what to expect. I just signed my bf up for the emerald club, but he skeptical about not having to go to a counter to rent the car. Any one care to explain exactly what happens starting from when you get off the plane?? :confused3

Thanks!

When you book your reservation logged in to your Emerald Club account (and as long as you don't rent a car seat; that would bump you to the counter) then all you have to do is head to baggage to get your luggage, go up the elevator to the main level (Transporation level), go outside and cross the street and follow the signs to National.

Once you find the National area, you then look for the aisle of the size of the car you booked. If you booked Intermediate, then your aisle will be Emerald Aisle. Once you pick a car, just load it up and head to the booth (the keys will be in the cars). At the booth, you hand them your CC and license and any coupon you might have used. Then you're off!

That's it!

I will give this a go but I am sure that if I misstate others will correct me.

You state that you signed up for EC so first thing you need is the Emerald Club card. Next thing is your reservation. It must state that level of service is Emerald Aisle.

After that it gets real simple. I must assume that you know how to get fom gate to rental car area. Walk outside (either side) and enter garage - its kind of in the center - look for the green National signs.

Look for the Emerald Aisle. There will be signs at end of row saying such. If Aisle if empty you can take one from intermediate-

After this all you do is pick out a car- then drive to exit. At exit booth show attendant your drivers license, credit card, Emerald Club Card and you're on your way. From Gate to road can take as little as twenty minutes with no luggage checked.

Tell bf that it really is this easy. No need to stop at counter. In fact there are usually no lines at counter.

If you are using a coupon make sure you have a copy if one is needed.

Also if things get confusing ask an attendant - they are very helpful.

One thing that's missing from the above explanations - as I found out via this board - the emerald club member has to mail or fax in the Master Rental Agreement (with credit card number) in order to bypass the counter the first time. You'll get one of these in the mail with the emerald club card.

Otherwise you'll need to complete the rental agreement at the counter on your first rental.

Okay, so here's another question... I already made the car reservation and at that time I wasn't a member, is there any way to put my member number in now? I tried to modtify it but I don't see a place to put the number... :confused3

I don't think there is but you could call them and ask if they can manually add it for you but there is no way to do it online.

If the price hasn't gone up, you can cancel the old one and rebook logged in.

As I stated check res - your level must be counter as you weren't a EC member yet. Just re-book it make sure you use EC site actually within nationalcar.com

Actually those who rent with "Quick Rent" can also bypass the counter even though they are not Emerald Club members.

I'm going to have to look into the quick rent. I would rather not cancel because I can't get the same price that I have. Has anyone used the quick rent at MCO before?

I've never used it but it's basically the same procedure as Emerald Club except with Quick Rent you cannot use any discounts/coupons. With both, you bypass the counter.

Don't forget to call National's Emerald Club and try to get them to change your reservation to an Emerald Club reservation. They may be able to.

Good luck!
