So here are the results so far. Sorry the picture isn't really clear, poor lighting. The red tinsel does not melt as smoothly as the holographic powder. The red also did not brush off the paper as smoothly either. Opinions please!
1) black ink/ holographic powder turned it a cool shade of green
2) back ink with red tinsel
3) large black ink, small red ink both with holographic
4) large black ink with holographic, small with red ink and red tinsel. I did the large heart first, heated it, then repeated with red. The double heating of the large heart turned it a bronze color. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I like the black with red tinsel. I like #4 too, but it seems like a bit of a hassle to have to do each one in two steps. Cool effect though, turning bronze.
Love embossing, one of my favorite techniques! I recently embossed some little bunnies! LOL
Number 1 is my favorite, but I'm partial to green. Number 2 is my second, but number 4 is sooo cool. I'm guessing the embossing buddy would be a big help with glitter ones. I don't have one yet either. But I need one too.
I like #1 the most and probably #4 second. I like the contrast of the bronze from the 2nd heating!
It didn't occur to me earlier when you mentioned red "tinsel" - but the metallic colors that I have don't 'melt' as nicely as the ordinary colors. I love them, but it's always disappointing when it doesn't turn out smooth. That's the problem with knowing what it's "supposed to look like". I've not yet found a way around it. I've even tried putting clear over it - as a 2nd step - but that didn't really work. LOL
About the fly dirt...I had another thought until you can get the embossing buddy. Do you have any of that anti-cling spray that you can spray on clothes you're wearing? Maybe if you'd spray the paintbrush.... I know that when doing a bunch in a row the powder starts to get stuck in the brush making it harder to get it all off the paper.
And I know I said that I use a really fine brush, but realized I didn't say that I also use a #3 brush (or even a larger flat brush) for the large open areas around the image and then use a #000 brush to get up close to the image & in the middle of things like your heart.
I vote for #2 ... but that's mainly because I'm a purist!
... and I too wish I could order an embossing buddy. Is someone doing an order by chance? I don't have any local contacts and would have to go to CA and back for my own SU contact.
