I am going to disneyland Aug 1-6. Deciding between Paradise Pier and Embassy suites south. Family with 3 teenagers. We have stayed at PP before and really liked it. Embassy suites is less expensive and includes hot breakfast. The address of Embassy suites south is 11767 Harbor Blvd. Is this a safe area? We plan on driving to the theme park if we stay at the Embassy suites. How much is parking at the disney theme parks? I would love to hear any suggestions or information on these hotels.
thanks

I can't help you out on the hotels, but if you do choose the Embassy Suites you may want to consider ART rather than driving and parking. Parking at DLR is $11 a day and a 5-day ART pass is $12 so it is almost a wash. ART will drop you off at the same place as the parking trams and pick you up at your hotel. With ART you can get to the park before the parking lot opens and take advantage of EE. I think the parking lot doesn't open until 30 minutes before the park opens so you can't do EE. The link is www.rideart.org if you want more info

The area where that Embassy Suites isn't the best (or so I've been told by holiday reps and locals alike) but we've stayed in the same little complex both visits to Anaheim and we've always felt safe. And we walked down Harbor from restaurants (and the DLR a few times... :confused3 :rotfl:) and it's been fine.

I've never stayed at any of the DLR hotels but have checked them all out and PP looks amazing... if it's an option, then why the hell not I say. GO FOR IT!!!! ;)

Have a great trip!! :thumbsup2

We've stayed at both and in your case I'd go with the Embassy Suites. 5 people in a room would be too crowded for me and you've already stayed at the PP so it's not like you 'need' to try an on-site. With ES you have 2 large rooms and the cooked to order breakfast plus the manager's reception in the evening with free drinks and snacks. The breakfast is good, they have almost everything you can think of and it would save you quite a bit of $$ for your family of 5.

If you do go w/ES, I agree with the PP to take the ART instead of driving & parking. Another benefit is if some in your party want to go back and rest/swim the whole group doesn't have to go if they don't want to.

The area is very touristy with lots of hotels. We've always felt safe there and have stayed there many times.

Good luck with your decision!

The Embassy Suites is located back off the street within a complex of other, well known hotel brands, such as Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden. The shuttle service is very handy and much easier than dealing with the parking situation. I felt very comfortable staying there and am going back next month.
The breakfast is a great selling point. It's quick and plentiful!

It depends a bit on your situation.

I would definitely recommend the PPH over ESS if you want to give your teens the freedom to go to and from the parks or DTD a bit on their own. I took my DS, age 15 at the time, with his 16 year old friend. We stayed at the DLH, and they really enjoyed a little freedom. The next visit, my DS and I stayed at the ES, and I got too sick to go to the parks one day. My DS didn't feel comfortable enough to take the ART to the parks on his own, so he just hung out at the hotel all day. He would have gone to DL had we stayed on site. My DS definitely prefers staying on site over the ES.

Another advantage of staying at the PPH is that you can take advantage of EE each day that it is offered, and you won't have to worry about ART or parking. That will save some time. I think the pool area is nicer at PPH.

Now ESS is a very nice hotel, and the suites offer you a lot more room with the outer sitting area. Be warned though, if you get stuck with a room near the elevators, this area can be a bit noisy to sleep in. The breakfast is pretty nice, although we seldom took too much advantage of it since we were always in a big hurry to get to DL before opening to take advantage of the smaller crowds first thing in the morning. There are lots of other hotels around, and a Target very close. I'd feel pretty comfortable walking around the area during the day, but wouldn't stray too far from the hotel late at night.

When we stayed at the ESS, we ended up driving for various reasons, but I agree that ART is probably a better way to go most of the time. If you do decide to drive, you can still do EE; the parking structure opens 30 minutes before EE opening on EE days. I strongly recommend being at the parking structure when it opens so that you can get to the gates well before opening whether its for EE or normal opening time.

:dance3: We loved EBSS and would be staying there this time except unavailable so we are at the Anaheim Marriott Suites. - The breakfast is great! We took advantage of this every morning. In the evening they do have snacks and I was always able to get a drink or two later in the evening. I also was able to get coffee from the bar for free. There is also a small store that can come in handy. Atleast it did for us. Last time it Rained 6 / 8 days we were there so we needed lots of ponchos, which we got at the store among other things. When we were able to use the pool and hot tub it was great, small but great. The only disappointment for us was the beds. Not as comfortable or as big but they will do. Oh yeah, and the noise if there is a convention or something going on. We were there during a snowboarding competition so lots of rowdy drinking snowboarders. The area is Tourist and business.. Lots of people and we never got nervous. We rode the ART and loved it. You catch it right in front and it delivers you in front too. It can get a bit crowded at night since it drops other hotels off first. But you are the first on. We made it to early entry and MTTN just fine. Over all we LOVED this hotel. :cheer2:

We absolutely loved the Embassy. Although we agree the parking at Disneyland is a bit of a pain . To me it is all aobut time and comfort. If you are going to be taking afternoon breaks I would probably consider PP. Otherwise you will be much more comfortable at the Embassy. I would also like to say their morning breakfast is the best complimentary breakfast I have had at any hotel.
