Embassy Suites or DoubleTree Suites?

Would you recommend Embassy Suites Anaheim - South or DoubleTree Suites Anaheim? We are a family of 5.

We stayed at Embassy Suites Anaheim South in December last year, and had a great experience. The room was a great size for our family of 4, even though the double bed was a bit of a squeeze for my husband and I. The room was clean, and recently updated, with a GREAT view of Matterhorn mountain service was good (front desk was a bit of a wait sometimes, but always friendly), and the free breakfast buffet was awesome and saved us a ton of $$. We booked through GetAwayToday, and it included breakfast, not sure if that's always the case, but we would for sure stay there again. We did not like taking the shuttle, however, and preferred to drive and park, which was an additional cost. But, that's just us, we don't like to wait! Overall though, we had a great experience. If we didn't get such an amazing deal for Marriott Anaheim Suites, at $65 per night, we would have stayed there again this year.

Embassy will give you the full breakfast free, has double beds and is a little further away from the parks. Doubletree (if booking a suite) has slightly nicer rooms, and queen size beds. Their sofa bed is more comfortable, as well. They are a little smaller, and no breakfast automatically included. You can easily walk to the Toy Story lot and hop on the buses there for free. All things considered, we usually stay Doubletree now because of queen beds and slightly more convenient.

I love Embassy Suites....for a family of 5, you will save so much money on the breakfasts alone. Also, for adults, they give you free drinks in the evening- My favorite thing about the place. Kids also love the indoor Koi Ponds. The one thing I love about DoubleTree are their cookies upon check-in, but that doesn't compare to free breakfast and drinks everyday.

I can't even explain my love for Embassy Suites. They have a great full free breakfast which saves us loads of money! The rooms are also roomy and nice. We went with 6 once, and my parents had a bed, my sister and her boyfriend had a bed, and my friend and I had the pull out bed from the couch which was actually VERY comfortable. We stay there every year (except this year due to low funds) and it's so worth every penny.

We stay at Hilton properties (Embassy Suites, Hilton, Hilton Garden, Doubletree, Hampton, etc) all over the place since that is where my DH likes to stock pile his travel rewards. I would always pick an Embassy Suites over a Doubletree just for the amenities.

That being said, I have no experience at either place at Disney because we generally stay closer to the park.

Seconded!

I used to be a HHonors member and would always try to stay at Hilton properties, and without a doubt I loved the Embassy Suites if mainly for the Breakfast.

We too, always stay at Hilton proprties, and Anaheim is no exception. And, we are also a family of 5. Generally, I would always chose Embassy over DoubleTree. Anaheim is an exception to that rule. The Embassy des have free breakfast, but that is the only plus it has in comparison to the DoubleTree. We stayed at Embassy in August, and at DoubleTree last August.
The DoubleTree is closer, and cleaner, and has MUCH better customer service. We asked for an extra blanket at Embassy, it came, with a hole in the middle of it big enough to fit my head through! It is also much more dated than DoubleTree. I left a review on tripadvisor on both, I don't have the links on me, but I will try to come back & post them.

DollBaby - Where did you find that rate on the Marriott Suites? That is a really good price!

I have stayed at both, and the Doubletree Suites (the one in Anaheim on South Harbor, not the one in Orange) is much better. As a hotel it is so much nicer, and the beds are SO comfortable at the Doubletree. It feels like more of a "hotel" to me, too.

We always get the free breakfast buffet because my husband is a Hilton Honors member due to work travel. The buffet is outstanding--it is like a beautiful brunch buffet with all that you would expect with that. Eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, omlettes, homemade granola, fruit, berries, bagels, breads, pastries, cereals, coffee, juice, milk, and stealcut oatmeal with all the fixings. We get free buffet tickets for each person in our group. My husband doesn't go with us-but we put his name on the reservation to get his Hilton Honors benefits. We also get free wi-fi with this. We always get a suite on his points (so we don't end up paying for the room usually)--and have always been given the top floor with a fireworks veiw per our request. It is such a quiet hotel, too--you can't hear any of your neighbors at all. This wasn't true at the Embassy Suites, unfortunately. The beds are so comfortable that I actually look forward to sleeping on them. That is a first for me in a hotel room! I have stayed in some pretty nice hotels over the years, but this one is really great.

We had been spoiled by always staying at one of the DLR properties over the years, and I remember thinking I wasn't going to like the Doubletree Suites very much--but I loved that our stay was going to be paid with my husband's points. I was so pleasantly surprised by how NICE and lovely our stay was there. We have stayed there our last 3 trips, and plan to again in December--so that is how much we like it!

If you look at the reviews on tripadvisor.com, it is always rated way up there (like int the top 3) for the best hotels in Anaheim--and I can see why.
