Embarrassed & outraged by local cheerleaders' behavior at WDW (long) (vent)

I think the girls need to be punished.... if it was my daughter, the least of her worries would be whether or not the school would let her cheer anymore. I would be on a plane to get her pronto and it would be dealt with at home.

Why don't parents parent anymore?

Well.. since you asked...I think some parents don't care, some parents want to be friends with their child, and some parents don't think "their" child would ever do anything like this.

Sad isn't it?

To the Grandmother quoted in the article whose GD confessed to shoplifting and was punished. Sure, it isn't fair that she bore the brunt of the punishment and it seems as though the others got off scot-free. But in the long run, your GD will be the better for standing up and admitting that she did something very wrong. And I bet it will make her stop the next time and think before acting.

The other girls who let 3-4 girls take the fall for everyone will someday be in a situation where they will be accountable for their actions.

I have to say, though, that the chaperones sound like real morons for having that many girls and only a handful of adults looking after them - and it's obvious that they weren't do much of a job of monitoring the teens.

Although I have never chaperoned a trip such as this, my best friend goes to DC with her 8th graders every year. Sometimes the kids are just handfuls. They had a group literally run from their chaperones and get on an elevator. They ended up on an office floor causing havoc with teachers and chaperones looking for them. (This was not her school but the kids from the other middle school in her district). These kids were also very RUDE. So much so that a military person reprimanded them too. Then there was the evening the police came to the hotel to report kids "flashing" people on the freeway!!:earseek: He had stopped and counted up floors and over balconies so he could report the correct room numbers of the students. The majority of these kids come from very well to do families and can do no wrong according to their parents. So even though they were caught the parents believed everyone was mistaken. After all their angel would never do something like that. (Let me explain something real quick. The parents from this school look down on the other school(my friend's school) because they are from "the wrong side of the river". My friend used to be at this school and said parents were hard to deal with because they thought their kids "poo didn't smell" putting it nicely!)Since it was the end of the school year there really wasn't any school discipline since the kids were all headed to high school. I think it is definately a sign of the times.

Oh and if I EVER find out my DS does anything like this he will be grounded until he is 80!!!::yes::
