Must all the family members be present at check-in?

DH is planning to drop us off early at the port, as soon as it opens, and then take the Budget car to the rental office and take the shuttle back to the port. Do we need to check in together? My goal is to get on line as soon as possible, but can he check in on his own when he gets back, and then join me on the line?

You can check-in without him

BUT

make sure when he returns to the port he has HIS cruise docs with him, and HIS photo ID. Otherwise, they won't grant him entry to the terminal.

We did this exact thing... Wife checked everyone in while I returned rental. All I had was my photo id to get back into the terminal. You can then go back to the CM who checked your family in and get your KTTW card. You do not have to wait in line, just wait next to the CM & when they finish with their current guest, they can give you your card.

I have heard of them giving your KTTW card to whoever checks you in & you dont have to go back & get it. That is a rare event, so plan on doing the above.

They have to see everyone before you board the ship. So yes, you can check in at different times, but everyone at some point has to present themselves.
This is for security reasons, because they enter a physical description of you in the computer that comes up on the computer screen when you reboard the ship in all the ports. I saw mine and a few others on the computer screen, mine noted I had a beard.
One little girls noted she was missing her two front teeth!!

I checked our family in without my husband there, he dropped us off and returned the rental car and took a taxi to the port. I had his passport, he had his driver's license. They gave me his kttw card and he ended up never going up to the desk at all.
