Embankment Pcr test after recent recovery

Does anyone know if they will take proof of recent covid recovery at embarkment? Pcr tests can stay positive for up to 90 days. My fully vaccinated and boosted daughter is clear from a positive covid pcr on 12/22 but when we sail on 1/2 her dr says a pcr could still show positive even without active infection.

About two weeks before your embarkation date, you'll be able to create an account on Safe Passage to complete the pre-boarding covid information. If you've had a positive covid test, you can upload it and a doctor's note and you can skip the test at the port when you board.

Is there a place to find out what the doctors letter should say specifically? Also, is this only for people who continue to test positive after 10 days. I ask, because I am covid positive now and leave for my cruise in about 65 days. You technically don’t have to test to exit isolation after 10 days. But I wonder if I should retest to see if I still show positive or I get a negative. But if you only need the first positive test and a doctors note, then I might not bother retesting to see, since it’s not an actual indicator of recovery.

I did ask this question already on a different thread, but I just found this one and it seems to be a relevant question here. Thank you!

So not sure if it is the best plan but currently I am thinking of getting a PCR test about 20 days before sailing. Just in case I had/ have an asymptomatic case. That way if it is positive I can quarantine and have the doctors note. My fear is testing positive for covid at the port for a past case. This way I am covered on that front. Also going to take an at home test before leaving home. Obviously nothing I can do if I get sick and test positive at port.

This is from another Dis thread

"Safe Passage will accept a clear to travel note from your doctor if you had a positive test within 90 days but you've since recovered. Numerous posters on this forum have done that recently. There's probably not much point in testing a few weeks out, though, unless you plan to keep on testing every few days. "

We just booked the Magic for January and I plan on doing a rapid test the day before/or day of we fly to Florida .

I didn't know you could still test positive for 90 days after having the virus. What if I had it and didn't know it? If I go to port and test positive it might not be a real infection. That's my biggest concern now.

That is why some people are taking/suggesting to take a PCR test more then 14 days out from their sail date. That way if they test positive, they have time to get a doctors note stating they have quarantined and are free to board the ship without taking an additional PCR test at the port.

I'm less than 14 days to embarkation. Plus getting a COVID test is like winning the lottery. Both our governor and county executive have tested positive due to routine testing, no symptoms. Our positivity rate is 11.6% and we have over 90% of residents with at least one vaccination.

If you think you may have had Covid in the last 90 days I highly recommend getting a test two weeks out. We were traveling with another couple and none of us had symptoms but were denied boarding because of a positive test. It was a horrible day and a terrible process on DCL's part..........long story but we had PAT of 10:30am but did not get out of the terminal until almost 4pm and not allowed to fly home for 10 days. Nobody ever got sick and she was initially cleared to board - the whole thing was fishy and we were miserable.

How was she initially cleared to board if she had a positive test? Just curious about the process. I thought you couldn't get on the ship without the test.

Hi, I'm so sorry you had this experience. Would you mind sharing a little more about the process though. How did you find a hotel to isolate at? And how were you transported to the hotel?

Here is what happened: We arrived at 10:30 per our PAT (my husband and I and another couple). We were tested and sent to the waiting area to get the all clear. We were sent the "all clear" email and proceeded to get our picture taken and then when we were steps away from boarding the ship my friend (the wife of the other couple) got a phone call from the ships doctor asking where she was and they need to speak with her. We turned around and went back and there was a DCL rep there waiting for us. They took us to a corner with a partition around it and said she had tested positive and "there was a glitch in the system" and that is why we got the all clear. She asked since there was a "glitch" if she could be retested and they said they do not retest. We then were asked to wait for them to find our luggage and then sat for hours with one chair for the 4 of us). They did eventually bring us two more chairs but we were starving by 3pm having had breakfast at 8am and planning to eat lunch on the ship. It was a miserable day. They will drive you somewhere and then you are on your own. So we were frantically trying to find a car rental and hotel that had availability. They do have a Holiday Inn that guarantees you a room somewhere close by (this was in Miami) but we decided to find our own hotel and had them drive us to the airport to pick up our rental car. This was November 27th and we have still not received our refund - they did say it could take 30 days. They also report you to the TSA and told us we could not fly for 7 days. We changed our flight to go home two days early after the 7 day quarantine and my friend was stopped a the Delta check in desk and told she could not fly for 10 days. At that point they were frustrated and rented a car to drive home to MN. It was a terrible experience for us - I can't imagine if we would have had children. It was anything but magical. We will not cruise with DCL again until they change their protocols. We have a cruise booked with RCCL in February that was already booked - hoping for a much better experience. Good luck to all of you! I think it was around 4pm by the time we were dropped off at the airport to get our car.........it was a long and very sad day.

That's terrible. I can definitely understand your sentiment. The "glitch" is one thing, but it sounds like they didn't respond well to the situation. I thought they would retest, but maybe I am wrong or that was on some of the very fast cruises in September. I hope most of this is more figured out by our cruise next summer. It will be our 4th attempt at a cruise due to cancelled cruises for covid. Hope you RCCL cruise is great!

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like a horrible experience, hopefully you enjoy your RCCL in February. I’ll be cruising with DCL in February from Miami. I have covid right now actually, so I’m going to see about getting a doctors note once I recover. I should be in the exemption window for the testing. I definitely don’t want to risk a positive test that is not a real infection.

Do you mind sharing the hotel you ended up booking at?

I kind of want to make a list of hotels or places I could maybe quarantine at as a worst case scenario. It’s good to know they at least offered the name of one hotel.

They will test the same sample a second time, if the first shows positive. They don't get another sample to test.

Were you guys staying in the same cabin? I am wondering what Disney considers the same party. We are traveling down and will meet family on the ship, they are flying from a different state. Our reservations are linked as in I can make dining reservations for us all but not see thier reservation. I would hate for one group to cause the other not to board when we haven't been together before the testing tent.

Arriving together is considered a party. If you each arrive at the port under separate transportation and meet up onboard, neither would be impacted by a positive in the other group.

Haha more confusing because we are all taking the dcl shuttle. Idk PAT times yet. Oh dear, sounds like we would be " one party" if we all get the same bus over to the port.
