Here's a quirky one for ya.

Originally we were going for my 40th birthday, however little problems arise such as college for DD.

I was wondering if anyone has any problems with the EMA (educational money award) and attendance at college. We have already booked the holiday but it fall in term time. The guidelines for the EMA dont fall favourably with holidays!!

I appreciate it not as the same as school, so I dont wont to enter that debate again LOL:confused3

Feedback appreciated.

By the way birthday nor till September, so get saving :dance3:

Hi, the student is usually given a form to get signed daily to confirm attendance, If they are not there to get the form signed I doubt they would get the money. However I don't know how it will effect your daughter eligibility long term as you need a certain percentage of attendance.

According to my DH, who's a college lecturer, your DD will need to fill in a pre-planned absence form. She won't receive an EMA allowance for the time you are away and is unlikely to receive her bonus as students are required to attend at least one session per week as well as having a minimum % attendance which can be as high as 95%. 2 weeks away will take her below 95%. He's not sure if there is any flexibility or appeals system. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

The attendance % isnt related to the bonus, a couple of my students who only have less than 70% attendance and who have missed whole weeks at a time still got their bonus because they hit all of their other targets. Attendance and punctuality are not considered when working out the bonus. But your dd will not get her EMA, if you miss a lesson without phoning in, are late three times or do not attend for a whole week (even if ill) then you do not get your EMA.

I agree, Vicki missed a week of college for holidays in October, which was pre agreed by the college, and although she did not recieve any EMA for that week she has however been awarded her bonus:thumbsup2
