I recently sold an item on Ebay for around $300, i checked when my auction had finished and the buyer had 1 negative feedback, the buyer emailed me to say that the reson he had neg was because he found out that the item he had bid on was a fake.

He wanted to meet up with me and pay cash, which I wasn't keen on, so I sent him a paypal invoice and explained that I would rather do it that way and I haven't heard from him since. it has now been 4 days.

What would you guys suggest I do, it's a lot of money and I didn't really want to have to relist, how can you stop people with negative feedback bidding. I couldn't retract his bid because he placed it in the very last seconds of the auction end.

What is an ebayer to do!?!?!

As a frequent seller/buyer on ebay, here's what I would suggest....

I would actually send one more email, reminding them that payment for the auction is due within 7/10 days. I see that their first feedback is a negative already, so this sale 'may' turn out to be a bust. If you happen to receive a response, payment shou;ld be on your terms, as you are the seller. If he/she fails to make payment, you should start the NPB (no-paying bidder) process to recoup your eBay listing fees. Just remember though, if you do leave neg feedback, often the other person will leave neg feedback (though not true) as well. In the future, you can block the bidder from bidding on your auctions. In this case, you're best bet, would be to file a NPB soon, get you money back, and re-list. This bidder seems like a pain. Good luck.

He wanted to meet you and pay cash???? This seems VERY suspicious to me! Please be careful!

I know I am a very suspicious person anyway! I wansn't very keen on meeting him and getting the money in cash, this is why I asked for either a check or a payment through paypal.

Would it affect me negatively in the fact that he has responded to me once? I have emailed him 3 times now and the emails have been returned to me so I think he has pulled the email address!!

This is very frustrating why do people mess you about like this!!

I would email Ebay today and advise them the buyer's contact information is incorrect (that emails are being bounced back to you). They will attempt to contact him and will suspend his account if they cannot obtain correct contact info.

Unfortunately, there is no way to MAKE people pay. You can file a Nonpaying Bidder Alert after 7 days and file for your Final Value Credit after 10 days. If you had another bidder, you can also make a Second Chance Offer to them.

For what it's worth, I've left negatives for about 6-7 nonpaying bidders, and have never received a negative in return, so not everybody responds to a negative with a negative. If you decide to leave negative feedback, wait until you've gone through the NPB and FVC first in case they prompt the bidder to pay up. Then leave a matter-of-fact statement such as "Non-paying bidder" for your negative comment.

If the bidder does give you a negative, you can respond to the negative with a statement such as, "This is a retaliatory negative from a nonpaying bidder."
