I'm just catching up to last week's email show...
I think there is some confusion (unless I missed something) over Lee's question regarding using Fastpass and a child swap...he did mention specifically that his five year old would not be tall enough to ride things like RNRC.
At Fastpass attractions with height restrictions (except Star Tours), a child under the height limit would NOT be allowed to enter the line at all. Instead, the child swap is handled OUTSIDE the attraction lines. What would happen is that the guests would approach the greeting CM at the front of the line (queue for Lee's benefit
), show that the child is under the height restriction, and obtain what is called a Rider Switch pass. This looks just like a Fastpass, but it says Rider Switch on it and has a little bonus - its good for up to three guests. The first group would then enter the (usually standby) line/queue while one adult stays with the child outside.
When the first group returns, the adult that stayed behind can then enter via the Fastpass line/queue with the Rider Switch pass, and bring up to two others along so they do not need to ride alone. Sinc they go through the Fastpass line/queue, the extra wait is minimal.
You can actually use the Rider Switch pass any time later that day if you choose - there is no return time on it.
On attractions that do not have a height limit, Fastpass, or for guests who meet the requirement but choose not to ride, you would have to attempt an old-fashioned child swap. How that is done varies at different attractions so asking a CM in advance is recommended.
Now, there is a lot of debate about using Fastpasses AND Rider Switch and the finer details of whether everyone needs to have a FP first, but I haven't gotten any confirmation on the rules there.
Pictures/details can be found via the link in my signature, which I wrote because this comes up a LOT...
