Hi. Just wondering what your thoughts are. For those who were not on that trip, DCL sent an email out offering 15% off a 2017 sailing as a thank you for sailing with them even though it was not what was expected (itinerary-wise). It needs to be booked by 12/30/16.

I thought this was very, very nice since we already got OBC (not expected or required of them by an means). But since the 2017 sailing have been on sale for a long time now the 15% off could be bringing the cost down to typical opening day prices (if prices rose after they went on sale). If so it doesn't change my mind of the offer. I appreciate it and liked it. So we're thinking of going on DCL and pushing back our anticipated trip to WDW until 2018. We're pretty flexible so I'm going to call to see if they can search for trips by price. We'll choose price over sailing date so maybe we can get a good deal out of it.

They definitely didn't need to, so I also think it is a nice gesture, personally. Prices on a fall cruise don't rise as fast as ones during school breaks - since the affected cruise was also at a low time, I think its fair... though it would have been even nicer if they had allowed it for any currently bookable cruise of course. ;)

Got my email yesterday as well. My friend called and was told that if she booked a future cruise the 15% would only be for the one person who was affected. Her and I sailed together so for the future cruise if she and someone else cruised she would only get the discount and if I sailed with someone else I would only get the discount. The discount is not on the cabin, just the people affected. Hope that makes sense.

Before we left the ship we heard a rumor that Disney was considering a future cruise discount for the 10/7 Magic but were waiting to read the comment cards from that cruise before deciding to offer it or not. As I said, that was the rumor going around.

I thought it was a nice gesture.

Is this actually 5 percent or 15 percent? You get 10 percent already with obb. Can u double stack it?

It is 15%. That's a good question about stacking though. The email didn't say anything indicating that you couldn't stack them (no asterisks or "call for details" qualifiers). I didn't book anything on board so for us it would only be 15%. Essentially we did not plan a future cruise but the 15% offer has us thinking we'll do it in Oct or Nov of '17 out of NYC. We were going to do WDW so I'm going to see if the kids will be okay with the cruise with a day at WDW. Oh the horror! haha :) For the dates I'm looking at, with the discount, 5 of us comes in at 185 pp per night, 2 inside staterooms (before gratuities). So I'm happy with that.

Mmouse37, good point. For us it would be the same people booking who went on the original trip. Do you think they decided based on people asking for something more on the comment cards? I have a friend who called after the trip asking if they would consider providing the park hopper to use within a reasonable amount of time and was told they were looking into options to offer guests who sailed.
