Well, now that we are booked on the 14 day cruise, I'm realizing that I will have to check my email at some point. I have a notebook but I'd rather not take it on the trip if at all possible. Is there internet access onboard that is not extremely costly? I'd rather not pay more than 10-15 dollars to check my email once a week. Thanks for info :)

I think the per minute charges for Internet access are quite high. There is a $90 unlimited useage package on the 7 days, so it possibly be doubled for the 14 day cruise. I guess you won't know until you board, DCL may have some in-between package for those special cruises.

75 cents per minute is correct...course they have raised everything else for these special cruises..so...grab your wallet

in my one and only disney cruise (4-day in august/september 2001), they gave each person 15 minutes free to try out. unfortunately, the wonder's internet cafe was being upgraded so they only had one table of 4 computers available and could not offer the unlimited plan.

Is there (or are there any plans to have) internet access in staterooms? I'll also be on the 14-day cruise (eastbound), and will need to check mail at least once per day. It's a lot easier for me to do this on my own machine.

i'd love to have in room access with my own laptop, but i don't think there are plans for it. maybe if (when) they build a new boat just for the west coast, they could add that to their plans!

We purchased the $90 unlimited access on the 7 day cruise and plan to do so again for the 14 day. We shared it for the family; it's almost impossible/unbearable to have a teenager electronically unplugged for a week and workrelated email is a necessity even on vacation for myself and DH.

It actually turned out to be a real coup for my husband; we were onboard for the final game of the world series in 2001 (Yankees and Diamondbacks) with a boatload of NY/NJ fans we were all in ESPN zone to expecting to see the game only to enter the blackout zone for the satellite signal, one of the guys said something about it's a shame no one has the unlimited online, my husband spoke up. and was followed by a crowd to the internet cafe. He called the game from the webcast. Even the ESPN Zone was calling down for score checks. It's one of my most memorable moments for him b/c baseball has always been a passion for him and to hear him tell the story of calling the game always warms my heart.

DCL does not offer the option of using your own computer in your room or anywhere to get online.

I suppose if you had a laptop/notebook and a wireless satellite modem, you could use your laptop/notebook from your verandah or up on deck. ;)
